(World?) Record 8pt Buck POACHED in Minnesota...

This has been making the rounds in our state. I'm not sure what the world record is for an 8pt. Some people have been saying this would be it if taken legally. What a shame. Forgive me if this has already been posted on this site. I couldn't find it on the boards.

Take a gander at the higher res photo and check out the mass on that thing:

I know. Some additional information, an article from the Minneapolis paper with an unnamed hunter who hunted the buck for several years legally.

What I will never figure out is how people can be so ignorant. The least he could have done was bought tags for his girlfriend or wife, mom and grandmother and he'd have had four tags!!! Problem solved. Of course that's illegal too but you can't throw a brick around here without hitting someone who does that. And they get away with it because the DNR is hard pressed to catch anyone in the act. All of those people are legally "party" hunting with grandma.

185" haha... they must think we're stupid..

If the 185" score is net, it would be right up there with the biggest 8 pointers in either record book. It is a PIG regardless! :arms:

it is really too bad such a great animal is taken illegally. i feel bad for anyone who had hunted the buck legally just for this a hole to poach him

outdoorsman4life_103 11-16-2009 03:56 PM

i hope they lock him up for years and never let him hunt again with a huge fine. make an example out of him. its because of people like that who give the rest of us who abide by the law, a bad name.

I'm no expert on scoring so I have no idea if they think we're stupid. I do know, though, that this buck was huge and doubt anyone could show any pic period of a bigger 8 point rack. Again, a bigger 8 point rack, not just a bigger rack but an 8 point rack.

Here's another story with a picture that gives a better perspective of the rack.

I wouldn't laugh to hard there finger, It's no lie. The rack Is enormous.

Perhaps I need another view of the rack. I wont complain about looking at multiple pictures of a nice rack. ;)

fingerz42 11-16-2009 07:32 PM

I just looked at the second posting of the rack. I wish they would take the picture of the rack without trying to make it look larger than it is. You're right schultzy its a mosnter. The thickness of the main beam looks almost as thick as that guys arm lol.

I'd still like to see a few angles on that buck. I'm seeing more than I initially did. (155)

Wow.. Now that shows his size. I dont think I've ever seen a buck with so much mass. Those guys cant even get their hands around the beams lol.

Unreal buck.

Though every picture looks different. The bottom pic is much more impressive.

Must be "photo trickery".

Major Rod Smith, DNR Enforcement operations manager, holds the rack of a white-tailed buck believed to have the largest set of eight-point antlers ever measured. Troy Alan Reinke, 32, of Cannon Falls was charged this morning in Goodhue County with 13 counts of illegal taking deer. If convicted, he faces $19,000 in fines, up to a year in jail and revocation of his hunting license. November 13, 2009. (Pioneer Press: Chris Polydoroff)

It's very huge but not the biggest 8 pt ever. I know someone shot an 8 pt on here last year that was in the 190s. That thing had 15" G-2s; it was sick! Also I know Jack Brittingham killed a monster deer with an eight point fram (it had some trash) that topped 190 in Texas. I'm just saying I know it's not a world record 8 pt despite how awesome it is.

SniperP1 11-17-2009 08:33 AM

How about this 8 pointer.. I took these a couple of years ago, I would be willing to bet he is as big, if not bigger!

See the photo above. "I will take a "Liter O Cola" to go with this rack." I hope at least someone gets this joke.
