3 Bucks Down!!!

Well i've had a pretty good year to say the least. I've been meaning to post these up here this week, but i guess waiting wasn't a bad thing!

first buck was a button buck.. to tell you the truth i did think it was a doe, the buttons hadn't broke skin even. oct. 30

second was my biggest buck, an 8 point with split brow, the split brow on the otherside was broke off, but had the stubs left 14.5inside spread. scored almost 105"

third IS now my biggest buck! shot him november 7th, 19 inch inside spread 24inch/22inch main beams and 10inch g2's pretty typical 8 with alot of mass and the one main beam turns down at the end

this so far is my best season by far, and its not over yet!

the button buck was 20 yards broadside double lung, the halloween split brow buck was 10 yards broadside double lung, and the big 8 was 23 yards broadside ducked a little at the shot and i hit him in the spine, but he got up and ran, when we found him we had to finish him off with another arrow, and now i know if i have to "stop" the deer by bleating so they end up looking your direction many times to aim slightly lower than where you plan to hit... i didn't think 23 yards would be enough time, but he sure ducked quickly.

Must be down in the CWD area?

stabnslab_WI 11-10-2009 06:08 AM

What area in WI lets you shoot two bucks?

IUSEPSE 11-10-2009 06:25 AM

Nice deer but...

You definetly got some nice deer there young man. But can you explain how you shot two of them? The anterless deer speaks for itself. Do you legally have two archery tags as a Wisconsin resident?

mossberghunter93 11-10-2009 06:45 AM

WOW man thats a helluva season for anyone, congrats!!!

I'm guessin CWD units as he is from Middleton. Crop damage tags only allow for antlerless deer to be taken I do beleive but depends. You can get extra tags for cwd units I do believe. But yeah he can explain I guess.... Maybe he shot 4 bucks (himself). haha but im guessin cwd so congrats if thats the case. WCL

Like I said on our team thread, you're having a hell of year!! Great looking bucks!

Congrats bud!

blakefrautschi 11-10-2009 06:11 PM

Thanks guys! and to explain the bucks, i hunt in south western wisconsin right near spring green, its in the CWD zone and you can get CWD tags for free, and its an EAB program, i had one sticker carry over from last year, and the button buck got me another buck tag because you get a buck sticker to put on the back of your tag to make it a buck tag... the button counts as an antlerless deer resulting in the next buck tag

spark notes: thanks, 1 antlerless deer = 1 buck tag. i shot 2 antlerless deer= 2 buck tags.

Yeah one gun buck tag and one archery buck tag if he bought both licenses. Unless you are in cwd units you can only kill one buck with a bow in WI. Gun season is a different story with party hunting however. If he got two buck tags for either archery or gun it was a mistake on the license printing. I know one guy who got that this year printed out but it was a mistake and only one will be getting used if he does. If you used both I don't think god things would come of it. WCL
