I shot this 8pt on Friday at 7;30am. I thought the shot was a bit low and a possible gut shot. I backed out of the area and let him sit till Saturday morning. My Buddy Chris and I went to the spot I shot the deer and found my arrow.It was tip to tip with dark blood { no sign of a gut shot}We start looking for blood a find a few spot in some grass. Thats IT!!! After a hour of looking for more blood we decide to start a grid search. The direction the deer went was off the property so I called my friend and DCO Kevin Mcguire. We looked for this deer from 8;30am till 1;00pm. We started to work our way back to my stand through a pine thicket. The pine thicket ends at a field on the back side of my stand. I was standing with Chris 10 yards from the field edge. I was saying how much of a disaster this was turning out to be. The week before I shot a 130 class 8pt in Illinois and never found him { Thats another story} I was down BIG TIME at this point. Chris walk's 5 yards ahead and looks back at me a say's there's your Buck. To say I jumped for joy is a understatement . The Buck was dead 180 degrees from the blood and direction he walked after the shot. He was 60 yards from my stand. I hit him in the liver and there was no blood in his bed or on his sides. I use Slick Tricks 125gr broadheads. Maybe I will try them Rage heads after the holes I seen in the deer Chris shot this year. This deer takes some of the sting out of my lost Illinois 8pt. I thank the Good LORD, Chris and DCO Kevin Mcguire for helping me with this Buck. Its not a Monster but It sure made me happy!!!
