Close...but no cigar!
Wednesday morning I had this guys walk just out of range at 43 yards. He came out of the clearcut and walked across the top of a rigde straight in front of me. He was on a trail that would lead him to a big white oak that is ranged at 35yds. But being a wise old buck, he turns up the hill and walks in the egde of the pines all the way down the bottom. I grunted at him, but he showed no interest. I snort wheezed to challenge his dominance, but he just kept walking. It's the biggest buck I've ever encountered while on the stand.
