hunting out of a blind
 

Any WNY have any luck putting a blind in the wood and seeing deer? How many day does it need to be out before hunting it? I have a spot I 99 percent sure it wont get stolen in and old apple orchard deep in the wood with no good trees to put up stand.

my buddy has a perma-blind he built on a wagon frame.. slaps an orange triangle on the back and tows it to the property.. and then when the season is over tows it back home.. (not his land)

i have yet to be able to get deer come up close to a popup like you see happen on TV hunting shows

then again my blind stinks like vinyl even after sitting outside for 2 weeks..

we hunt out of ground blinds a lot down here. Have shot both deer and hogs out of them. Just yesterday had a doe not 8 yards from us then video 2 other does for more that 25 minutes at 45 to 15 yards. are blinds have been set up for quite sometime.but usally doesn't take long for things to come by. 1 suggestion though would be to put it back in some thick stuff or set up a bunch of brush and stuff to help camo it. I'll probably get beat up for this comment but northern deer are much smarter than southern deer so blinds are not as effective in the north, especially for big bucks. If you want to get them to work, there are a few keys. 1. if you can, put it in very early so the deer can get used to it and leave it for the season, 2. if you use a portable one, use one that is taught and the material does not flap in the wind and 3. brush in the blind using lots of long branches, brush and/or long stemmed vegitation.

Another option I use for apple orchards are crotch stands, they work amazingly in apple trees and you can usually get 8-12 feet off the ground in most mature apple orchards which beats being on the ground.

I have and am going to build me a cheap one this year. Not sure what or how i will. But wiht buying a muzzelloader a 200 blind is not a option heck a 100 blind ant a option till next month
