LOOK at this New York buck 6+ years old

My friend saw this buck get hit by a car and managed to convince the state trooper that came to the accident scene to give him a tag to keep it. He is an amazing buck with rediculous mass. It is going to get mounted, didnt' put a tape on it yet.

Canuck33 10-23-2009 08:26 AM

halfbakedi420 10-23-2009 08:32 AM

You must obtain a tag once law enforcement comes to pick it up, if you dont and you get caught, its big trouble.

sr77 10-23-2009 08:48 AM

That buck is a hoss! Huge NY buck.

Shane

brandonxc 10-23-2009 09:14 AM

its a great looking deer? tbh it would be a shame for whoever obtained possesion of him not to get him mounted.

It's not like it has no monetary value. What would you suggest be done with it? Just curious.

BigDaddy12t 10-23-2009 10:39 AM

Thats a heck of a buck!

you would rather just let the meat go to waste... i see

brandonxc 10-23-2009 11:11 AM

because a mounted deer should be a trophy, i didnt saw let it go to waste, meat is meat, but claiming it as your own trophy is sad.

Tumabuck 10-23-2009 11:15 AM

I have mounted LOTS of road kill for people... Matter of fact, had a bobcat brought in yesterday. too each his own.

zmax hunter 10-23-2009 01:26 PM

Most of the hunters on this forum will never kill a buck that big. To have him mounted as a conversation piece is a good idea. It's not like the only thing you can have mounted is animals you have killed. If someone wanted to give me say, a wolf or a mountain lion, i would have it mounted or atleast rugged out. :D

He never said he was going to "claim" it as his own trophy, the guy got a dandy of a road kill, if he wants to mount it, whatever, it'll sure look good on the wall.

I dont suppose you would have had the Missouri Monarch mounted either, I mean really he was just found dead

SteveBNy 10-23-2009 01:40 PM

No interest in mounting a road kill here either.
Horns would make a great lamp though.

wis_rifle_hunter 10-23-2009 02:45 PM

that is a hog of a buck. what a buck!!!

shott8283 10-23-2009 07:30 PM

honestly.. for our area in NY.. if you DIDNT mount him .. you would probably get shot.. that thing is ridiculous..

i know about 30 dudes that would straight up pay the 400 to get it mounted

TheMiz54 10-23-2009 07:32 PM

I personally would do a euro mount on him. i would not pay 400 to have a shoulder mount done if I didnt shoot him. I would do a nice euro mount my self. It would be a great story and memory to tell your grand kids someday.

This is just a non-needed statement!! It doesn't havre to be killed by hunting to get it mounted, it's a trophy deer that was unfortinate to get killed that way. It is most certainly a trophy no matter what, and deserves the respect to be put on the wall. Makes a wonderful conversation piece!!

Many years ago there was a buck hit by a car about 5 miles from my house. I think this was back in the early 90's. If memory serves me right, it set a new state record for " road kill ". I think they said, that had it been taken by a hunter it would have made the top 5 in the state record books. I didn't get to see it, but was told it was a ridiculously big buck.

crokit 10-24-2009 03:08 AM

A buddy of mine started a " bug box " business here in our area. Has boxes he built full of beetles from , I believe Brazil. that clean everything off skull/bone. Then shellacks and polishes. Makes awesome Euro mount.

This IS a nice buck, but far from a " monster ", especially for the area of Erie Co./Niagara co. Personally, I wouldn't invest much dinero on it.

I know the buck and saw it the evening it was hit. Fergy, a state trooper, was, I believe, the third person on the scene that finally accepted it. He couldn't believe his luck. It was a monster. Scored close to 220" gross, NT. Supposedly aged at only 4 1/2. Nailed right at 13/17. I hunted that buck for better than two years and never saw it during the daylight hours. Saw plenty of it's sign though.

I travel the 13/17 route often enough to know I'd give a nut or two, to hunt that area. I have seen some large creatures on that stretch of road.

AfterLife 10-24-2009 10:24 AM

that is nice

i would mount it for sure

o but i am a taxidermist lol

True that! I have permission to hunt alot of it between Elmira and Alpine Junction.Attachment 4203 From that area.

DVXDUDE 10-24-2009 12:50 PM

I wouldnt mount him, but I'd definatly be nailing that one on to the shop wall. Euro mount or something.

rh160kid 10-24-2009 03:50 PM

thats a great deer for anywhere- i know a few guys who mounted deer hit by cars. i wouldnt but to each his own. As long as you dont claim you shot it , who really cares. AS said, the animal is a trophy no matter how it died. I also agree with a euro mount for this scenario.

I wish the gene pool would make it another 5 miles up the road where I hunt.:happy0001:

the head is at the taxidermists now, 425 for the mount. for us, this is a monster, and he is a buck that my friends and i have a history wit, it came off of a property we have hunted for 6 years. to us it is worth the money to mount it, its a beautiful buck that deserves to be mounted.
