Hunter's Safety Lifeline?
Just picked one up today and excited to set it up on one of my hang-on stands. One question, in the directions, it appears as if you just use it as you safety strap once in stand too. Or rather, you don't disconnect from it once you get into stand and strap into a separate safety strap? Is that right? That would make sense.

You connect your harness to it while your standing on the ground at the base of the tree and slide the prussic knot up while you climb up. Leave it alone while your on the stand, and then slide the knot back down as you decend. You stay connected to that rope the entire time that your off the ground. You do not have to disconnect it and reconnected it to anything else. i use mine with my highpoint climber and I absolutely love mine.

Don't forget to secure the bottom of the rope so the prussic knot will slide up.

Every hang on and ladder should come with one of these. I learned the hard way last week, fell @ 15 ft while climbing. My stupidity caused the fall. Got lucky - no permanent damage.

Thanks for the replies guys. A few more questions. With your climber, how do you hook it up completely at the top (stand spot) and bottom of the tree before climbing? I'd imagine you'd have to for it to work? For ladder stands, the video shows them running the rope down the ladder from the top of the stand spot. Seems like that's how you would connect it then in those cases but I'd imagine you'll want to pull it off to the side at the top some so it doesn't interfere with shooting.

I use my rope/prussic knot from my Summit stands when I use the HSS vest with a climbing stand. HSS now offers a similar product. https://secure.huntersafetysystem.co...products_id=27
I think the long lifeline would be too much trouble in a climber but its great for hang ons. |

I use one on each of my hang on stands. Once I am in the stand I hook my safety harness to the tree, THEN disconnect from the safety line. Never be disconnected!
I use both just because, well don't know, I just worry about the safety roap moving as I maneuver for a shot. |

You don't use these with a climber, they are intended for a hang on or ladder stand. Matter of fact, I can't even think of a way you could use one with a climber. For a climber, you need a restraint that attaches to your safety vest (whatever type) and around the tree. As you progress up the tree, you move the restraint up with you.
