10-19-09 bowkill

At 6:50pm on 10-19-09 I whacked this deer at 20yds... Came out to my left at 30 yds, then feed towards me until he was 10yds from me..Then turned like he was gonna leave but kept feeding on acorns, gave me a good quartering to shot at 19 yds and I felt confident in it, and I let her fly! When the arrow hit,he let out a big bellow, and I knew it was a lung hit,he turned to run and couln't get his front legs under him,he bulldozed for about 30 yds falling over..Stoped for a sec,and went about another 10 yds and piled up...All with in sight of my stand..Im pumped. And I knew he was a button buck,so im not going to act like I thought he was a doe,I KNEW!! LOL..I thought he was pretty big to be just a button.. That is a summit titan stand, its a good deal bigger than the viper..The deer was pretty big,i don't believe he was this years deer. But I could be wrong also..Either way,Im so glad I didn't give up bowhunting!

I know,he was really big,i just can't see him being this years deer! I believe they was spikes and they got broke off or something of the sort, because if I had to guess a dressed wieght it would be around 70 lbs..And I ain't ever seen that years deer wiegh that much..

Looks like a fawn to me. I have no issue with shooting them. Remember in TN, some fawns can be dropped in early May, perhaps earlier, all the way through to the end of June. Fawns of the same year can vary in age by a couple months. That makes a quite a difference in size, and buck fawns are larger in general than doe fawns.

Great job, and I just read your apology post. Its all good, I think at times anyone that has been bowhunting for any length of time has gotten discouraged about one thing or another. Good to see you were big enough as a person to own up to your faults and move on to better things!!
