This season sucks
Maybe the deer are out and about...who knows, here in East Central Illinois 90% of the crops are still in the field, and with nothing but rain the last 2-3 days and more on the way, it could be middle of November before the deer are back in the woods where they belong.
|
I hear you. Same here.
|
Same here!
|
They will be in the woods guys, thats where the trees for rubbing are, and the edges for scrapes and licking branches, Now get out there and HUNT!

Hey Solo
give me a call in your area.8158677162 rich

Yeah, things aren't looking good around here either.... It's going to take better part of a week just to dry out enough before they can get back in the field.... And that's IF/once it actually stops raining....
|
Hey bud havent talked to you in awhile!! I am just telling you to hang in there, you had the same luck going for you this time last year if I remember correctly?? It eventually all came together and you put a couple nice slammers down!!!
Gd Luck keep me updated!!! |
We saw a ton of deer last Saturday out moving in the cooler temps. This weekend should be more of the same, hopefully better...
|
When that rain stops, I would make sure I was out there. Thats when I see the most deer, is right after it stops raining, literally minutes after the rain stops and the sun comes out. Its like someone opens the gate and lets them out, they flock the fields right after a rain.
|
same here!
|
same here in Ohio...it's pissing me off, just stop raining
|
Same thing in Indiana. Every time I've been out this year, with the exception of once, it has rained. This w/e is supposed to be clear and cold though, so we'll see.
Blessings.....Pastorjim |
I'm glad we have beans.

Man, I have been hunting Jefferson Co pretty hard for being so early in the year. I am off to one of my best starts ever. Deer sightings are way up from last year, number of does on the ground is way up from last year and I thought last year would be hard to beat.
Maybe the thing that is helping me is that we don't have any corn up around us. Everything that was corn last year is in beans this year. While the beans are still standing, the deer are not spending as much time in the fields as they would if it were corn. |
can't be any worse than here in MA!!!!
I'd gladly trade you anyday!!! :) Hang in there... you know it will happen. |
I have nothing but Beans this year (N.E. Ia.) & have only seen 2 does a 100 yds away in 4 trips. Lots of rain also. don't fret fellas, we always get anxious when we see some lucky Bowhunters dropping some nice Bucks. it doesn't happen for everyone. Patience-that's what makes a GOOD Bowhunter, Right??
I have a daughter TRYING to get her 1st shot at a Deer so I'm not shooting at ANYTHING until she does.. Good Luck-it will dry out & the Deer will be coming by those stands... |
I'm in Southern Illinois and I have had great success thus far hunting on big acorn trees and on the edges of uncut bean fields..got a 4 count so far..they are definitely in the woods...however, they have been movin super later down here..Hang in there

Same here. 6 does down so far, all off acron flats in the evening. Morning hunts have slower than normal, but evening hunts have been on fire and the mid day hunts have been productive. My only concern so far is the fact I have not seen any of my big boys from stand yet. |
Worst year I can remember. Think the deer are on vacation, somewhere else!
|
Im a frmer in So. Il and when we were shelling corn a buddy asked me if he could hut a small woodlot next to the field we were shelling (best time to hunt is when the farmers out in the field) So i let him hunt it and he seen 3 deer and they didnt even come out of the corn field. We havent ran many deer out of the corn fields when were shelling and i have hardly seen any deer in bean fields. Even though your not seeing deer just be glad you have the opportunity to be out there hunting.
|
Deer like edge. Hunt the edge of woods and crops or make something happen, stalk deer through the corn or make small pushes to make them feel less comfortable in those fields. Good luck
|
Sounds like NY...some of the fields are cut, but of course the land I hunt...the corn is not cut yet...Been raining for the last 2 weeks, but as of yesterday, we now have some snow on the ground and cold temps...it's like mid November right now...so might be an exciting opener for us NYers..
Hang in there...hopefully farms get all the corn up your way cut! |
I hunted southern illinois the past four days and saw a bunch of does, saw one 100 inch 8 point, cant wait to go back in 3 weeks.
i hunted about 150 yards off a soybean field. caught em going to and from the feild. good luck to ya though |
