bigwhitetailbuck 10-13-2009 01:29 PM

Jeez.... Ive been waiting for this since last December!! I cant freakin wait, I wont be getting up there until friday night, and I have to move a stand in the dark.. Hopefully I will be lucky!

dyb3and88 10-13-2009 05:03 PM

I am so ready. You know what the sad thing is? We get all pumped up for opening day, and some of us ( probably me ) wont even see a deer for the first few days. Last year to only deer I saw, was a small 7 point, a week into the season, So I stuck em, lol. Not a monster by any means, but it was the biggest buck I ever shot.
The weather is looking awesome for this week, 20's and 30's at night, upper 40's to low 50's for highs, and even a chance of a snow flake. I would be happier with an inch or so of snow Saturday, lol, but I know thats wishful thinking.

hunterdusty 10-13-2009 05:29 PM

I am driving back to new york from west virginia for the opener, and cannot freakin wait, ive been away at college so saturday morning when the sun comes up will be the first time ive seen my stands in the daylight in almost 2 months, hopefully i cleared the lanes good enough

HoytMT2332 10-13-2009 09:53 PM

Im pumped. There are two scrapes near my stand, both are around 30 yards away. The best part is, they are right on the edge of my shooting lanes. I can't wait. Hopefully luck will be with me. Good Luck to all of you guys on Saturday, hope you all wack a nice one.....

Outdoorcountry 10-14-2009 05:03 AM

Scrapes already! Wow! That is amazing! I can't wait until Saturday! I have two new hunting locations that I haven't had time to research deer for (I did clear shooting lanes) So i'm kind of torn as to hunting old stand-bys or trying one of the new spots.

doublelung'em 10-14-2009 06:44 AM

i cannot wait! good luck to you all! double lung 'em!!!

IMO, I would try the new spots first, then as the season gets later and you still haven't go one, then I would go the the " old stand buys"

Getting some great weather news for the next few days and into opening day, now they are saying we might get some lite accumulating snow Friday night.... YAAHOOOO!!!! bring it on, lol

I was just as amazed as you, Maybe it's the colder weather early. I don't know for sure. But i do know i like the scrapes where they are. :fighting0007:

biggamefish 10-14-2009 10:48 AM

I went scouting and saw a scrape line I was amazed. It is early for them to really be doing that.

I hunt public land and I just hope nobody found my honey hole, atleast the trail I am standing on.

sapcpo 10-15-2009 05:37 AM

I'll be out sat am! maybe snow in southern tier of NY. Winter storm watch tonight!
Can't wait.
I have seen scapes and a few rubs

Gundeck 10-15-2009 06:04 AM

As luck would have it (once again) some moron decided to schedule the VFW Fall Conference for this weekend. I will unfortunately be in Albany for the first day, but will be home in time to spend the afternoon in the woods on Sunday.

I came out the front door Monday morning (around 6 AM) to see four deer in my wife's flower garden (10 yards from the front deck). Then, yesterday morning I walked out to find a doe and this year's baby standing so close to the deck that I wouldn't have needed arrows. I could have just beat her on the head with the bow. Hope the big boys are around next week!!

Awesome that should move the deer.

dyb3and88 10-15-2009 06:05 PM

LET IT SNOW!!! But I think its just going to be a dusting at this point. Time will tell. 1 more day all.

dyb3and88 10-16-2009 04:37 AM

Well the ground is covered with snow. Now just have to hope we still end up with some still on the ground tomorrow morning.

sportsman22 10-16-2009 04:51 AM

My girlfriends cousin that plays for the NY Giants is taking me out there on their day off when we go visit. Growing up in Wisconsin, I never really thought of New York having hunting land (big city picture). How is it out there?

deerdart 10-16-2009 05:07 AM

tomaros gonna be a great day in oswego county :barmy:

ydduit 10-16-2009 05:19 AM

OMG!!!111!!!11
I can't wait till morning!
We have about 3" of fresh snow on the ground this morning and they are calling for up to 4" more by tomorrow! :barmy::barmy::barmy:

Visibility will be reduced in the woods but the deer will be active! I hope my lanes are clear enough to compensate for the added weight of the snow on the canopy...

TheMiz54 10-16-2009 05:22 AM

I cant wait for tomorrow. I wont be able to sleep tonight. In the southern tier we have about 3 inches of snow and 4 to 5 more on the way. Its gonna be great opening morning.

Gundeck 10-16-2009 05:43 AM

Woohoo! SNOW!! We only got about an inch here in the Finger Lakes, but it is stuck to everything. Saw the deer out and moving this morning and they stand out like a sore thumb in the white! It is funny seeing all of the snow on the trees with all of the leaves still on!

There is allot of nice woods in NY state. NY is far from just all city. Snow is all gone. Not looking like we will have any for opening morning. I'm a little nerves for shotting now, for some reason the last two days I haven't been shooting that well. I had been shooting pretty good, and was happy with my performance. Now for some reason I'm all over the place when shooting at about 40 yards.:confused0024:. Good luck tomorrow fellow NY'rs :party0005: shoot straight............

elkhuntinut 10-16-2009 03:11 PM

I can't wait for tomorrow myself....looks to be about 35 degrees tomorrow with some rain/snow mix....looks like another day for the Coldfront Jacket to fit the damp weather.

Good luck to all over the weekend.
