I also had a point to make about scenting in the early archery season. As I relayed in the above post I am cheap and will go about a successfull solution after finding out a way to do it at a low cost. I keep the urine from the last years hunt in the freezer or buy after the season is over at Wally world in the discount bin. I found out along time ago that a buck will key on a scent which to him is not too old. I rinse out a soda can and cut a little access door in the side to put a tea candle in. I then put a cotton ball soaked in urine or scent over the top of the can. This can be done with a piece of copper wire or whatever you have or hang the cotten ball from a string as most people do. Just make sure the small amount of heat is under the cotton ball. I have shot deer with their nose in the can several times. The warming urine attracts the deer much quicker. This mimicks the THERMOSCENT at a near zero cost and is most effective. The tea candle should be plain wax and will burn for 6 hours. Rowmin Goat......

I can't believe some of you still don't have one. I've killed a few while the thermacell was going. The past two seasons have been really dry, so the mosqitoes weren't bad enough to use anything. Looks like it may be three in a row this season. When they are bad, I won't get up in a tree without my thermacell.

Yep, right on with everyone here. Got one this past spring before I went on a bear hunt. Had a bear at 13 yards while using my thermacell, no clue I was there. And black bears have arguably the best noses on Earth.

Thanks for the tips and I'm definitely gonna give them a try. Instead of the can and candle I'm thinking of just using my other thermacell. Basically do the same thing you suggested in your first post except soak the lantern wick in the urine instead of bug repellent. If it doesn't work I can always go with the can. Thanks again.
