i found this on a property that thows a lot of non-typical deer. the formation on his head actually shows where it already shed antlers on top of this mass of antler.

I call it pretty interesting! Nice find. We have a scull kinda like that in our club house but the antlers are twisted. We have never seen any like it since so maybe it did not pass on the genes.

they had a few bucks like that in the weird whitetails magazine as well as on muzzy moments however i cant remember what caused it

But it could be an antlered doe (they don't typically shed velvet OR antlers). Or....could just be a buck that didn't shed (antlers or velvet).

i don't think it is an antlered doe cause the width and size of the skull is bigger than a couple of my old 6+year old 190 class buck skulls.

If a buck in velvet suddenly becomes a doe they won't shed velvet of antlers and it could wind up looking like that after a few seasons of growth

Buck with a jacked up rack. Something had caused it to grow crazy. Genetics or environment. Or as GMMAT stated, an antlered doe. Ive seen some crazy racks on antlered does.

Either way, it was an animal with antlers not horns. So it would have to be some sort of deer.
