red, green or blue light
 

I just bought a new headlamp this year and it has an option for red, blue and green. Does anybody use any of these colors in the bush? If so what color is best and for what? Any input is greatly appreciated.

I bought a new headlamp this year as well. Mine has the regular white light, but it also has the green light. I read that the green light doesn't spook deer as badly so I just use it when I can. I don't like it as much as white let, just because it isnt as bright and doesn't have alot of range. But I am willing to use it if it works

I've used red for many years. It doesn't spook game(personal oboservance & experience)
That doesn't mean it makes you invisible, but it really helps. It also doesn't seem to mess up your night vision as bad if you need to turn it off.

I use my red light on the headlamp pretty much exclusively. It doesn't spook critters, and gives enough light to get set up, though not nearly as bright as the white lights. Good point about the night vision too, the red doesn't affect that really at all, where the white will leave you seeing spots in the dark!

well i wouldnt use blue at all just my point of view but i have heard red is best

I have all 3, green is best doesn't ness up your night vision. The deer can't see it. I can see better with the green than the other 2.

Spot on! I don't use a headlamp though. I rarely even use a regular flashlight (red lense), but when I do, I only point it at the ground to avoid twigs, ect. I think a headlamp tends to shine through the woods too much. Once your eyes get acclimated to darkness, it's amazing how well a human can see without a light.

I would use the red light for walking.The green would work good when setting up and for climbing stands.Other than that I wouldn't hardly use the white light.
