I just booked my first hunt !!!

hello again,

most people on HNI know me as the crazy belgian guy with lots of theoretical knowledge when it comes to hunting and decent target skills.
Since living in Belgium makes bowhunting impossible we have to go abroad, like France. But you need to have a IBEP permit and a legal firearm huntinglicence to bowhunt ( yes, I know ! )
Last night a friend of mine who has done some extensive bowhunting sends me this email saying there's a hunt close by ( 2,5h drive into France ) and they are willing to let novice hunters take a shot at bowhunting, being on private property.
I called and I reserved a spot.
NOW I NEED TO PRACTICE my slick tricks and study killzones !!!

I'll let you know how it went offcourse..........

The happy crazy belgian guy

Good luck to you. I was in Belgium in 2004, very cool place.. You should book a hunt in the U.S. someday. :patriot:

Sweet, I wish you the best of luck. I hope that your bank account can handle whats about to happen if you're successful, bowhunting is more addictive than crack. By this time next year, you'll probably be booking a giraffe hunt in south africa.

Best of luck to you! Heck, he shouldn't have to book a hunt in the US...someone should offer to put him up and let him hunt on their property!

why I don't hunt in the states

I'm much obliged here and I would love to go hunting in the USA.
But only if I was living there.
I wouldn't just come over and kill something, I find, for me hunting is the whole thing. The hunt, the kill, the meat and the trophee, if there is one.
I decided I will only hunt for two purposes, culling weak or overpopulated animals or hunting for meat.
That's why I'm going to start close by.

The hunt I booked is on private property. 10 bowhunters including me and we all get different shootingspots.
It's a silent driven hunt, that means they push the animals out without upsetting them or making them scared and run.
It's just a group of people who will walk in front of the deer and wild boar, no dogs or noise.

The owner says I should get climbing gear because he doesn't believe I can fool his deer on the ground with my camo.
I want to prove him wrong. ( I'll bring climbing gear anyway just in case )
180 Euro's for 4 kills and the only thing I can't shoot is wild boar over 120 pounds. After the hunt the meat is devided between the bowhunters, so I'll be coming home with meat.

There's two species of deer, small deer up to 100 pounds and larger kind like whitetail.
I'm nog going to shoot over 30 yards.
I'm using fmj's with slick tricks 125gr and my ariborne shoots 256 fps, not too fast but plenty of KE.
I'm using Predator Brown deception and maybe a camo screen.

I'll keep you informed.....

Frank
