natural cover scent?

Many times the air currents do strange things. You may think they are one way but may dip, swirl, or rise. Getting off the ground will help but its not foolproof.

And hear lies my biggest problem!!!!! I agree that eliminating as much scent as possible is the best thing you can do, but I know its not gonna be full proof. So I try to hunt the wind as much as possible. But honestly everytime I get into a stand and I think I have the wind in my favor, just the way I want it. It CHANGES lol. And there is no control over nature soooooo... what do you do?

This is where attempting to reduce your scent to that "acceptable" level is so important. Like I said in one of my earlier posts, the deer don't seem to play by the same rules as we do! Reduce you scent as much as possible and try to hunt with the wind in your advantage, the rest is a roll of the dice.

It's also why we dont win every time. The wind is by far the hardest thing for me to contend with. I dont hunt as much now as I used to because I stay out of the area if the wind isnt right. Its frustrating to hunt 2 or three hours then the wind swirls or changes direction and ruins the hunt. Im setting here not trying to deside if I should go or stay home because it looks like the wind is changing directions. Id rather not educate the deer by having my scent blown all over the place.....but some times...just sometimes....it all comes together and we kill one. There just isnt a magic bullet to beating the wind and a deers nose.
