GREAT opening day...

Well the brand new Matthews Drenalin did its job on 9/19/09 (doe opener in WMU 5C, PA). This is my first ever double and boy was it exciting. I got both of these nannies out of the same tree one in the am and one in the pm. The area is extremely overpopulated and my harvest target for this particular stand is 5 female deer...off to a great start.

Nice work bud. I am in 5C as well, nice to get out a little earlier isn't it. I scored on my first doe of the season on the 21st. Nice pic, great job on the double!

Congratulations on a great double.

One question however, you said you shot the first one in the am, and didn't skin it in these temps? Just curious.... one should cool the meat as fast as possible. Was that not an option?

Again, congratulations and I'm envious of your earlier opener.

Next Saturday for me.

Where the heck is this place? I've been trying to hunt pittsburgh for a while now. Great job I wish I had 2 tags to try a double. Just didn't work out that way.

Congrats!!

Ryan.

Rob...Luckily after I shot the doe in the am the temps never got out of the low 60s. I immediately got 6 bags of ice (2 below, 2 inside, and 2 on top of her) and wrapped her in a tarp. I had plans to go out that night and was feeling optimistic about getting a shot at another doe. I thought she would be fine for an extra 6 hours wrapped with the ice...plus it saved me an hour commute to/from the butcher's a second time.

Very nice does. How far down into 5C are you? I live and hunt in Stroudsburg, only a few miles from the 5C border. I can't wait until saturday, Ive often thought about trying to score some hunting opportunities down in 5C to get the extra two weeks, and basically unlimited doe tags. And since your taking an hour ride to the processor, who does your deer?

HooSIER|Hunter 09-28-2009 04:05 PM

Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
