Advice needed from BowTech VFT & Patriot owners

I' m in the process of deciding between the VFT &
the Patriot. I shot the Patriot a couple months ago
and loved it, but I' ve been bowhunting turkeys the
last month and haven' t had a chance to shoot the
VFT yet. This bow is for hunting only[:-] and
with my short draw length of 27" [:' (] the extra
KE the VFT will generate is tempting me[>:].

I' m a little concerned about the 6 5/8" brace height,
compared to the 7 1/4" of the Patriot. I have a Q2
and a FX that both have brace heights around 7"
that I' m comfortable with.

Anything I should know about when looking at
these two bows?

Any feedback from you BowTech shooters would be
appreciated.

Thanks
Two Beards

With your draw length I think you would be a perfect match for the brace height of the VFT. My wife shoots her Tec 29 with a 6.5 inch brace better than anything she' s ever had in 19 years with her 26 inch draw. I shot my Darton Maverick very well with a 6 1/4 inch brace and I have a 29 1/2 inch draw. You' ll do just fine;)

I would go to the shop with your large hunting jacket and shoot the VFT. If you have no clearance problems it may be a great choice for you.

They are both nice shooters ,I opted for the larger brace of the Patriot.

I tend to agree with the others in that the VFT should be fine considering her draw length but that she should see if the short brace height will cause the bowstring to slap against her hunting outfit' s sleeve.

Patriot is an awesome bow.
I just bought a Tech 29 but I' ve shot my friends Patriot a few
times and it' s really eashy shooting.

Now with my new Tech29 I' m finding it really difficult to shoot.
Perhaps because it' s not properly sighted in or because i' m not
used to the short bow. I' ll I can say is that it' s not a very forgiving bow.

Thanks for everyone' s advice. Right now I' m
leaning towards the Patriot, since I was so
impressed with it, but I' ll find out after I get
to shoot them both side by side.

How adjustable is the draw length and what
type of strings & cable are used? I' ve had WC
on my bows the last couple years and absolutely
love them:D[:-].

Thanks again:)

In my opinion, you can' t go wrong with the Patriot or the VFT. I have the VFT (70 lb 29" 306 fps) and I love it. I also test fired the Patriot and it is one sweet shooter as well. I chose the VFT for the extra speed and KE and I really didn' t notice the BH difference at all. It should be even less noticeable for you in a 27" draw. For instance, my son is shooting 70lb 27" 2002 Bowtech with a 6.25 BH and he doesn' t even consider the BH an issue.

I believe the draw length is 1/2" adjustable with the same cam module or you can change modules at a later time if you need to. The string I think are " Stone Mountain" and are very good. I' ve had no stretch yet and I' m around 1000 shots. Hope this helps!!

I got the VFT and have not had a chance to shoot it but, I' m really sad about the lack of speed. 29" 71lbs. 406grs. at 280fps.

VFT_MD:

Although 280 isn' t bad for 406 grains, my VFT is 291 with a 405 grain arrow. My VFT is 70.5 lbs, 29" draw, Bowtech Hush Kit, String Loop and Peep, and GKF Mirage dropaway. Something must be different just a little. As I said above, I also have a 367 grain arrow pushing 306 fps. I would say those are pretty good speeds/KE. I hope you can solve your issue, if there is one.
