Stop the Presses!!! I had a thought!!! (I think)
This morning I went to get gas and I turned the pump on and Started pumping, And a thought raced through my head, I wonder how much gas I use going to/from hunting spots... I started calculating the approximate distances between my house and some spots in my head, and Its about 10 miles from my house to the one spot and about 20 to one of the others, so at 17 mpg average.... Aww hell I accidentally filled my truck up, great.
So when I stopped daydreaming and actually broke it down into a chart I figured out that hunting is expensive!!! who'd have thought.
So lets hear about how far you drive to and from your different sets, in state and out of state.
Ryan.

Well, I just got back from hunting out of state. I put on just over 2500 miles. I get about 10 miles/gal. You do the math. I hunt in northern Wis. which is a 170 mile drive one way. When I go to Mn I think it's gotta be 350 miles one way. My "local" spots are about 20 miles away.
I don't even think about it I just go. I'm not going to be sitting in an old folks home someday wishing I had wasted more money on hunting travel expenses!

i have 4,000 acres that i hunt on about 15 miles away. and i have another 4,000 acres thats 40 miles away. and i have another 2,000 acres about 60 miles away from my house. so its not so bad. but since i havent started my new job yet. i hunt almost everyday. and then on top of guiding. witch they pay for my gas. when i am guiding. but with bow season, bird season, and guiding. i put about 25,000 miles on my truck a year. and i get 18 mpg. so in just hunting. and i am saying i drive 15000 miles a year. just me hunting. i spend 2500.00 dollars on gas alone. this is first time i have ever added it up. and holy **** thats a lot of money.

It is right around 115 miles depending on the route I take to the hunting spot. I figure it takes aroung 13 gallons round trip. Good thing I have a hunting buddy to split the gas cost with. Now if he would only get a better truck, we would not have to use mine all the time....

depends the spot i will mainly hunt is 1.5 to 2.0 milesw from my house. But since i must drive 2 miles out of my way to the main office the 4 miles from there to my spot that has me at 6 totals each way. Though most are under 10. If after we move back to sullivan i drive up here it will be 65 each way.

Hell i travel to and from school everyday(35miles one way). Nothing seems far after that kinda traveling 5 days a week. And then on top of that, my job is 10miles away from school, and work is 30miles from home.... On the days I work as well thats....75 miles per day driving.
Some days I come home from school and then go to work and back home. How about 130miles a day a few times a week
Most of my hunting is done on the river. The truck trip is about 16miles from the house. so 32miles total, + however far in the boat(up to 20 miles round trip per hunt). Truck gets 14-16 pulling the boat, boat is decent, but either way, I spend a freaking ton on gas no matter what im doing!!!
