Are you asking if we have bought 10 or 20 acres for hunting and or built on it. I had 8 small acres i was buying in ky. It was a great little hole alot of deer had 18 in my yard one day. But we walked away to move to NC we regret it everyday.

yes...I was just wondering if people had bought smaller tracts as an investment (hard asset) and whether you hunted on it while you wait to either sell, build or do nothing. I guess the larger questions is can 10-20 acres be large enough for one or 2 people to bowhunt fairly regularly. thanks

i thought so. We had trophy deer on our little 8 acres. There was a nice creek bed running down two sides. The public land was just down the creek and the hunters there pushed the deer to my land. It all depends on the land. 10 acres of pine trees with no cover no food no water would properly be worst then 10 acres of half white oak trees and 10 acres of water and clover.
I would kill to have 10 acres of my own land.
I have a 1/2 acres lot in a community i will be hunting but it borderes govt land. We cut all the trees off and next season it will be a big food plot. Luckly everyone hunts here so no one minds you hunting in side the community. Well atleast the people who matter i guess. THe president of the board told me to have fun and just don't shoot anyone. I could sit in y front yard by the road and get away with it .

I own approx. 10 acres. Deer certainly move through it and in rifle season seem to hole up on it. I don't spend much time hunting it because I am fortunate to have other places, but my wife hunts it some.
I wouldn't be afraid to buy small parcels for hunting and recreational use.

i know this is subjective to localities, but whats an acre of "typical" hunting land going to run you? what did you guys pay for your smaller, sub-20 acre lots?
im fighting to buy one single acre behind my house just to mow down and turn into lawn, and im being forced into paying close to 6K for it

I bow hunt on my 16 acres. 14 are wooded and our house is on the 2 cleared acres at the front of the property. The type of property and surrounding properties may be just as important as the 10-20. As you can see in the pic I live in the middle of nowhere but I think it's doable.
