I can understand the ease of clean-up, but I'm thinking that if you're going to eat the deer, the gloves aren't going to do a lot. Mankind has made it this far, and I'm sure millions (if not billions) of deer have been cleaned without gloves!

I carry a small pint size ziploc bag with several pair of nitrile based gloves (purple)...and some packaged wipes (like you get at when you eat ribs)...
Basically it is for clean-up...as your odds of picking up something for gutting a deer is probably lower than from shaving...but it does not take up significant room...
And after the gut pile has been removed from the deer, I go back and harvest the bladder to later extract the urine for my own deer urine...it does help with that...especially if you intend on eating that PB&J sandwich afterwards...

More than deer to gut. Hogs are not the cleanest animals. Just makes sense to do a little protection when gutting. Who knows whats on your hands that you could be getting on the meat like te glands on the legs.
Just makes sense to me to try and keep things as clean as possible. Used some this summer that came with some wipes. They were the ticket.
No one has ever said my food tasted gamie. I think I'll stick with the gloves. Does give me something to think about. Maybe they aren't needed.
