good knife for less then a100 bucks.

What knife would you guys recommend for gutting a deer under 100 bucks. I am unsure if i want a guthook or not so feel free to recommend either. Ohh and i would like something without wood. For the safty issue with blood and such. A one piece stainless steel would be great

I've used the same Buck 110 since I was 14, i'm now 28, they retail for about $35 bucks. Fancy knives are not for gutting deer IMO.

i agree...an ole knife is fine for guttin deer...many guys go WAY overboard IMO with "guttin knives"

i use a case "trapper" knife with 2 blades...usually always using the very pointy blade...

many guys make gutting a deer into some surgical process when IMO it doesnt need to be...im the guy that got the deer gutted and hands cleaned before the person that killed it got their tag filled out...a couple minutes and im outta there...just no need to get fancy...and no need for a fancy knife. a GOOD sharp blade is all thats needed...i love my trapper knife and always got it in my pocket...

the key is a good sharp blade...most guys carry mini machetes...i dont know what in the world they are doing with those things...if they are guttin deer with somethin that size they aint doin a good job...100$ can buy you 2 or 3 real nice knives to gut deer with.....

the other day i was at cabelas and got a gerber gator normally 89.99 now 69.99 Bell & Carlson glass filled nylon handles stainless steel 4 inch blade with or without a gut hook. the knife is absolutly awesome i love it have been using it a bunch and just like every gerber i have had the blade holds an edge for a very long time

my other knife is a buck 110 and for the price/product i dont think you can beat it has been around forever

Go onto the Trad gang website and forums and look for Robtattoo ( he's a knife maker ) , he makes an amazing knife called the Huntsman for around the money you wanna spend . You won't regret it , i got mine 14 months ago and love it . He moved from England , UK to Tenessee , USA early this year .

I JUST FOUND HIS WEBSITE . I'm not sure if he still uses this website , but go check them it out and get in touch . http://www.robtattooknives.com/

What is the safety issue with blood and a wooden handle????

SouthLAHunt 09-18-2009 05:08 AM

My two criteria for "deer cleanin'" blades are simple: 1) a stout, fixed blade 2) a durable gut hook. I bought this knife last year http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...set=ISO-8859-1

i couldnt be happier with it. does all it needs to do and for the price they are selling it at right now......you cant beat it.

This is the Wind River skinner from Browning. Once you get the sharpening down....this knife can be SCARY sharp. I have a nice custom, but I used this one on my Monday doe and it rocks.
