Congrats Jeff. It must feel good to get that first one down.

So is ASAT your camo of the year this year?

7VALLEYS 09-16-2009 07:57 AM

Congrats on your traditional kill. I'm hoping to do the same here once the season gets started. Going to wear the ASAT also.

Excellent. Way to go. Your first is always the most memoriable. My first with a compound was sweet. I started with trad, and went to compounds for a while in the 90s. Two deer stick out in my mind the most. My very first, which was with a recurve and the first I took with a compound.

Our season doesnt start until Oct. 3rd. Im dieing to use my latest bow I built in the spring, ELB/R-D clone. One of my special concoctions. Ive got hog and rabbit blood on it, but cant wait to get into the deer action.

Agian, excellent job.

Congrats on the doe! They are all trophies, the fact that its your first with the trad gear makes it all the more special. Speaking of gear I really like that quiver/bag you've got there. My only complaint is you haven't told the story of how it happened? how did it all go down?

GMMAT 09-17-2009 04:17 PM

Sorry...

I had 2 does and two fawns come in (no spots). This was (remember, I'm in NC....lol) the larger of the two does....and I waited for a shot at her. I could have shot (at) the smaller doe.....but just waited.

Hit her "back".....but she only went 30yds before going down. I "think" she expired within just a few minutes. I snuck out and returned, later.

Shot was broadside at about 17yds.

MOTOWNHONKEY 09-17-2009 04:25 PM

Nice shooting Tex, mail me a back strap. Good Job.
