OHIO Question...

A buddy of mine wants me to go to Ohio with him to hunt Belmont and Monroe counties November 7th-11th. Can anyone tell me anything about the deer hunting, trophy potential, topography, etc., in these counties? Is it worth the trip?

I grew up in Belmont county so I know the topography very well. Bring your hiking shoes. It's very hilly, but beautiful area. Belmont and Monroe fell just out of the top 10 counties for total number of deer harvested last seasons. I believe Belmont was 11th and Monroe was 13th. Here's a link to a brochure the ODNR put out summarizing last year's season: http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/LinkClick...3d&tabid=18781

I'll be hunting in Belmont county this year as well.

There are some great deer in Ohio, But You really have to work for them, It isnt generally like you see on the Hunting shows! They kill alot of big deer here, but have some pretty die hard scouters and bow hunters. I would say in the that area of the state you should see a bunch of deer, and have a shot at a good one if your buddy has the area scouted out! good Luck!
