peep sites?
i talked to a guy today at scheels sports store and he said it would be a good idea to put a peep site on a bow that i might buy. he said that if you just use the sites you have to have a good anchor point. but he said with a peep site you dont need to be right on with the anchor point and still shoot very consistantley. is this true and do you reccomend a peep site?

RE: peep sites?
Not a expert but I believe the peep acts or is a anchor point.

RE: peep sites?
Mr fishy, I beleive a peep will help you shoot more accurately. be sure and get at least a 3/16 aperture. I always used a 1/4" . the bigger hole will help you in low light conditions.
but, if your like me and your eyes have gotten bad, then I' d suggest drop the peep, put on a kisser button and get yourself a xhair sight. I' m shootin better since I dropped my peep, simply because I can see my target better. the xhair sight will help you get the right aiming point. I aline my vertical xhair a little behind the shoulder, and the horizontal just below center of chest. ;) |
RE: peep sites?
Would you shoot a gun without a rear site?

Check out the new Hind sight they work great!!

RE: peep sites?
I shot for years very well just using an anchor point, when I got my new bow it came with a peep sight. My shooting improved, but I still use my anchor point. I feel that three references is better than two.

RE: peep sites?
[:-]Shoot with a peep sight and see for yourself. I used to shoot without one until I tried it. Like someone said, would you shoot a rifle without a rear sight? And my eyes are getting weaker so I opt for the larger hole and have no problems.

mrfishy
I would like to give you one piece of advice. If at all possible, you need to try and shoot with both eyes open. This will help in those low light conditions with a peep. This will also give you a much better sigh picture.Especially on a live animal in the woods. The difference is unbelievable. If your shooting right handed and right eye dominant, then it shouldn' t be that hard to get adjusted. If your not using your dominant eye to sight with, then you might have hard time doing this. |
RE: peep sites?
I have never had a peep site on my bow and i could shoot good, but not as good as i want. Somtimes i couldent find my anchor point so now i just ordered a peep from cabelas cant wait to try it.
