Ready for Season opener/Tree Saddle ready

Well, I bought myself the Leather seated Tree Saddle that is Waddells Roadtrips saddle. I found it brand new, used once, on this site for $150, which is $100 cheaper than new. Now, I have used it over at the golf course across the street from me, and I found it very easy to use and very comfortable. I can't see the need to walk around the tree, as I had 360 degree shooting, basically just staying on one side of the tree. Now for my platform....I have a bunch of strap on steps that I could cut off of the straps and put on one ratchet strap, BUT I believe I have found the cats butt in a nice mini platform. Here it is; a new product out by Gorilla Tree stand company. It is a 10"X16" seat/platform that is rated for 300#'s, and is attached by a ratchet strap. It doesn't mention how much it weighs on the site, but it has to be only a pound or two I would assume. I ordered one, and it is $49.99. Now, I have to wear a safety harness anyway, so basically, my only weight now to carry is my Lone Wolf Sticks and my Gorilla seat. This seat will be handy for when I wear a guilly outfit and hunt from the ground too. Better than dragging a chair out with me.

Guys, I went out and played with this new platform, and I really like it. Rock solid, no creaks or squeaks that I could hear, and this will also double as a way to still hunt on the ground with a ghilley suit on or whatever. I took the pad off for using it as a platform. It has a self leveling seat just like a Lone Wolf Alpha Hang on, and comes with plastic teflon washers between all metal pivot points. I want to emphasize that this is not designed for standing on according to the lawyers at Gorilla, but since I am 200# and it is rated for 300#, and I am secure in my Tree Saddle, well you know what I mean. Here are some pics from my 1st time out with it and my 2nd time of playing with the saddle. I am teaching my girlfriend how to bow hunt and we are doing a city doe hunt in a few weeks, so this will give me more practice with it. I was at the golf course and didn't want to freak people out(Probably did anyway as my girlfriend and I wore camo and hung treestands) by bringing a bow, so I just simulated drawing and shooting for the camera. These are size 13 Danners on the platform for reference.

Now if you really want comfort check out the Guido's Web by Gudiosoutdoors.com. It is the most comfortable supension harness stand on the planet. a hard bottom keeps belts off legs and a full rigid back support with adjustable back support makes it adjust to any size or lean tree. i have one and love it....

I checked them out and toyed with the idea. What I don't like about the Guidos tho, is that I want to wear my saddle to and from the stand and not have to put it on once I get to the tree. I can do this with my saddle as it is just like walking in a harnass. The Guidos and that fork between the walkers legs and the hard seat just didn't fit the criteria. Good luck this season!!

Let me know how that works after you've been on stand for 3 hours..

The Saddle easily adjusts from this position to a seated position and many guys sleep in these. I have read many guys testimonials of all day sits in these and from what I have seen so far, it is very comfortable. This is just another tool as a mobile hunter. Like when I teach my girlfriend, I will just use the saddle and she will set on the LW alpha. Lots of camera guys like these too. I used to be skeptical about these and just thought they surely must be a joke. I started researching and pm ing guys, watching videos, etc. I can tell you one thing, it will sure be nice not lugging a treestand out, and since I have to wear a harnass anyway, my stand weight went to a couple of compact pounds with this little platform. Even Lone Wolf got in on this Saddle type of sling harnass hunting and have made a platform and a saddle of their own. You know, most of my sits are from 3-4 in the afternoon till dark. 90% are. When weight and distance isn't anything though, I sure love my Lone Wolf Alpha. Simply the best hang on ever invented to this date imo. Here are some videos on the saddle.

tree saddle set up

Your saddle set up looks good. Planning and figuring out how to make it all work is half the fun of hunting. I used the Lone Wolf hand climber portion of my lock on as a tree step last year. It worked out very well but I think your Gorilla seat is a better alternative and will have to get me one.

I can't really see it well. Looks like sticks with a platform. Do you set the sticks and platform, climb up and hang the saddle? Not really sure how the whole thing works.
