leaving during the winter
the deer on our property always seem to leave during the winter we own 80 acres of crp land. but we do have small patches of trees. i think its because the snow is deep or something but if i were to keep feeding them corn from now on do you think they would stick around all winter. what about some kind of deer attractant. what do you think.

In the winter they typically seek large areas of thick cover. They need protection from the wind as well easy access to browse in order to survive the winter. I have seen them leave their winter cover and travel long distances to get to corn fields to feed if the snow isn't too deep. But then return before daylight.

During the cold of the winter, foodsources are where it's at. Deer will be very close to the fields.

I don't know if what little corn you feed them would be enough to keep them around. You could always try.

Evergreens. 15 degrees warmer inside them. Thwy also herd up to share war stories and to see who doesn't show, same place every year. :)

if theyve been leaving the property then they will continue to do so. What they generally do in most areas is move to a bigger area of land and "yard" too many people dont realize deer still do this. Thats why in the winters if you drive around and you see 70-80 deer in on area, this is called a deer yard. Its normal and no way to prevent it.
