Those short ones were a problem for me last season. Some how I found myself in trees that were like rock, them things would not screw in no matter what i did. From now on when I buy one they will have long thin tapered spike/screws. Short fat ones just can't cut it. Even then they may just bust off.

Man them trees were hard. Even hard to climb the stand would not dig in. Some kind of oak I think.
