just a few more thought.
the area that we went to was due north of Toronto. we did not realize it nor were we informed but this is known as the cottage are and the holiday area for the locals. this most definitely played a role in the success of our trip. the local hunting pressure was very high and the amount of people were much more dense than we had hoped and anticipated. this explains why the bears were not as scared of us and also explains why some were very leary.
the very first thing our guide told us is that the 'berries crapped' which we found this to be true in areas. the first week of hunting the outfitter went 4 for 6 with one hunter wounding a bear and another passing up shot opportunities. so they could have went 6 for 6. i think that the baits were to closely placed together and this is why our hunting was rather poor and the first week was really good. also the local pressure got to the bears and changed their patterns.
i would not suggest to head to the same area as we did. nor would i recommend this outfitter to anyone. Cedar Ridge Lodge in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. the guide however was a super young man and when he goes out on his own we will head over to visit him. Good luck Geoff. he did what he could with what he had. the only quide in camp with about 12 fisherman and 6 bear hunters. he really needed more help of less people.
