I think the big price difference comes from living in Canada.
Archery isn' t anywhere as big as in the States.....hunting
in general isn' t as popular. We don' t have many archery shops
so they are able to maintain their prices up and still get the money.
If I order arrows from the states it will end up costing me the same
after the dollar conversion, shipping costs, taxes and all the other
BS.

How are the Beman Hawks?

I agree with the others you can get the gold tip xt' s real cheap on ebay.
Another place you can get them is www.artesianarrow.com just email John for a price.
I have found his prices to be real good as he will match or better his competors.

Tech29,
That sucks that you have to pay that much more for them.

Of the brands you mentioned, I would get the Gold Tips. Pretty much all of the newer carbons are good. I just know that the GT' s are proven to be tough as nails and they have always shot really well out of three different bows for me.

The GT 3D pros are very good shafts and I would highly recommend them, but the hunters will work.

Someone please call me an idiot if I am wrong but isn' t the higher cost in Canada the result of the fact that the Canadian currency is not worth as much (per dollar) as American? I am definitely not into economics so I am sure I am way off base but that was my limited understanding of it.

As for the others...right now I am partial the Beman performance (not just speed) so the Hawks get my vote.

That' s not exactly how it works Pabbowhtr......I wish it was.
You are partially correct....that the price would be higher since the canadian Dollar isn' t as high as the Amerian and we are importing them from the States so they have to make up for the difference. But what Canadian suppliers do isn' t exactly that. Not only do they mark up the exchance but they add more $$ to the price of the item due to the low sales and other dealer competition.

That' s why I usually take a 4 hr drive to Cabelas anytime I need to buy the more expensive stuff.

What is the Canadian exchange rate for US to Canadian? How much does it cost in shipping charges to send them up there?

$1 CND is worth $0.71 US or in other words....you could buy a Canadian dollar for seventy one cents US.

This has been the highest Canadian dollar has been in the past five years.
