THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I currently shoot Rocky Mountain- advantage 100gr. broadheads. After talking to the guys in my hunting party last November, they suggested I look into a multitude of other brands. I liked the performance of the RM' s but they were totally distroyed after a deer kill. I didn' t mind that because it did the job, but would another broadhead have done better. I thought about the Rocky Titanium' s but am unsure. I' m not sold on expandables and feel more comfortable with fixed.
Any feedback is much appreciated. |
RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I' m using titanium revolutions.....
A little $$$, but great broadheads. I' m not up to date with current broadheads retailers carry in the states but I know it' s much greater than the Canadian ones. Last time I was at Cabelas they had a huge section just on broadheads....it was great. |
RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I would recommend trying 100 GR. Thunder Head' s or Muzzy' s, You cant go wrong with either. Pike

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
ONLY " MY" OPINION-stay with the Rocky Mountains_ I have bowhunted all types of Biggame & used many over the past 45 years. I have used them since they came out in the 70s BUT have tried others & when it comes time to head for the woods-I put a 125gr. Rocky Mountain Razor 3 Blade on. I took Elk, Whitetail, Fallow Deer,Axis deer & sevearal hogs(3 -150-250#) this past year. Excellent results thou my son did have 1 head damaged some on a HUGE BOAR. I have seen failure in almost any head-I have seen a few Muzzys end up looking like less than a field tip of a friend of mines-he has switched to another head. E-mail Barrie Archery & mention what happened-I am sure they will make it right. I know there are many excellent heads on the market but most are some type take off of some other head-Rocky " WAS" among the 1st with their type head & have only made it better. Good luck-don' t switch....

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I' ve used the RM Ti-100s in the past and was very satisfied with the results. Only got a couple of deer but they worked flawlessly. Why did I change? Well I experiment a lot.....and there were some expandables I wanted to try.
Just my 0.02. Mark |

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
Those are some fine looking broadheads posted by Nub & Bigbulls. I have always used broadheads that have an immediate cutting edge tip on it. Currently using the Steelforce and like em alot.

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I have always believed that $70.00+ for 12 broadheads is outrageous. But, $116.00 for 12 heads!!!! [:o][:o]

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I' ll tell you one thing. They give us too many dang choices. How do they expect us to choose? The montec is a strong consideration for me as well.
5-Shot is going to be busy this year.;) Better go ahead and get started my friend. |
RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
Lot' s of great choices around The Rocky TI' s are excellent, one of the best heads on the market, and one of the few that are worth the 10 doller apeice price tag. Muzzys are also great. For cut on contact heads I like the Magnus stingers. If you want to stick with Rocky heads though The Ti-100 is a super head.

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
Thunderheads or Muzzy...it doesn' t get any better!
|
RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I' ve used Muzzy 100 gr 3-blade for 10 years with no problems. I' m not planning on changing. I stick with what works.

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
If you are going to stay with nonexpandables then the Muzzy 3 blade 100 grain heads get my vote.

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
As mentioned before, you can' t go wrong with the Muzzy' s. But IMHO, the new Wasp BOSS SST has the potential to be a superior broadhead. The SST tips are some of the strongest and sharpest of any trocar points on the market. Wasp blades are among the sharpest in the industry. And now that Wasp has decreased the surface area of their heads with the BOSS series (less likely to plane), they should fly extremely well at higher speeds.

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
I am a die hard Muzzy man myself, using the 100 gr. 4 blade heads with great results, but I must say that those new Wasp Boss SST heads really caught my eye. Can' t wait to see 5 Shot' s test results on these babies!

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
Muzzys are great broadheads, ive used them with no problems!

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
Steelforce Four Blade

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
Checked out Montec' s today. The heads I checked...the points weren' t real sharp. The blades were sharp enough a little farther back from the tip but the heads looked tough![:o]

RE: THINKING OF CHANGING BROADHEADS...ANY THOUGHTS?
Thanks for the input- I had a lot to think about, but I chose 100 grain Muzzy' s. The name came up most often in this string and my archery shop highly recommends them.
