new mexico 16a
Hi all,
I drew a tag in new mexico's 16a.Almost all my bow experience is eastern whitetail. I have gotten pretty good at that (took 4 with a bow last season.). Never bow hunted elk so any advice is welcome. thnaks-Jerry |
RE: new mexico 16a
Well congrats on the tag, we drew 16B this year after 3 years of trying. Are you going guided ?? Personally I believe that gear is the most important..have a good, and I mean good, pair of hiking boots. I wear Danner Pronghorns and the give excellent support. Always have a roll of duct tape that way if you do get a blister, you can wrap it to help it from getting worse. Invest in a good pack (ex: Badlands) for your essentials.
This is a matter of personal opinion, but I suggest that you shoot an arrow with a total arrow weight of 400 grains and shoot a fixed blade broadhead. PS. Watch some Primo's elk video's to get the blood going and learn a few pointers as they are good for giving them. |
