I hope Tred recovers and wish him well. I am not a fan of Tred Barta, I know people that have docked next to him. He is not a nice guy to be around, he is numero uno in his book and he lets everyone know. Get well Tred.

He really gets under you guys skin that much, huh?

Would it bother you if Lebron and Kobe both boasted they were the best two players in the league? It's true. Why would it?

His shot selection hasn't always been stellar (nor has ANYONE'S who's been doing this for a while). But...bottom line....HE DOES DO IT THE HARD WAY....and that absolutely irritates the hell out of (seemingly) a LOT of compound shooters (most trad guys love his quest, if not him too).

Even with his recent paralyzation as the topic.....the insecurities seep into threads. I would say I'm amazed, but I'm not.
Arrogance always seems to seep in also..

Prayers sent Tred.

Reading a few of these posts sometimes makes you shake your head.... IMO - Barta is a true mans man - not many like him left!!

Wish him all the best and hope he's out in the wild chasing his passions shortly.... Thought his comment on his current struggle sums up his situation:

“I’ve fought to earn world records for some of the most challenging fish in the ocean and have hunted dangerous game in the wilderness with only my long bow, but nothing compares to the fight I am in now,” said Barta.

Sounds like that guy got a tough break. Sorry for the stupid question, but who is he and what did he do that was so controversial?

Alot of you people are just simply not compassionate for a fellow human being. Tred is not only another human but also a fellow hunter! He Stands up for what we all believe in and for you to talk negative about him is a disgrace to the hunting community! Tred, I wish you well as do many other people that know what you stand for!

What he said there was incorrect. Fly-fishing is to fishing what trad archery is to bow hunting. It takes more technical proficiency to be accomplished, although many fly fishing"purists" are idiots who may have more talk than walk when it comes to actually catching a fish, and, have lost sight of what fishing is supposed to be about...perhaps again, like some hunters.

at any rate, godspeed Ted.

badassbowtech 07-15-2009 07:06 AM

Oh man this sucks. I like this guy. You know like him or not, you never want this to happen to anyone, let alone a bowhunter and just a good guy.

We should leave this at the top. Lets wish him well and a speedy recovery.

fishinty 07-15-2009 07:23 AM

hope tred recovers .

+1 A year ago the issue was gun hunters posting their kills in archery section. He picks up a stick and string and now compound guys are targeted. Funny!

crokit 07-15-2009 03:26 PM

While Fred Bear and Howard Hill were my hunting heroes while growing up, You have to respect Barta for hunting the hard way, and IMHO, the only way.

isatarak 07-16-2009 02:23 AM

Now I remember why I don't come to the bowhunting forum very often. Hope things work out for Mr. Barta.

jimmy28303 07-16-2009 01:58 PM

i personally cant stand the guy because he is so arrogant but i would never wish something like that on someone. i hope he recovers.

Zim 07-17-2009 09:30 AM

I enjoy his shows and hope he returns to his show even if it's from a wheelchair. I'd watch even with the more limited scenarios.

magicman54494 07-17-2009 09:34 AM

Any update on his recovery?

Zim 07-17-2009 10:23 AM

I've read a few posts recently and there was no mention of changes in his condition one way or the other. Just general rehab.

I think you mistake confidence and aggressiveness for arrogance. I personally have not talked to anyone that knows Tred Barta and hasn't sang their praises for him....Get Well Tred...We need your strength to suppress the pettiness of everyday life!

Cannonw24 07-17-2009 07:01 PM

I have a lot of respect for Tred, he's kind of kept it ol' school and seems super passionate about the sport of hunting. I hope for him a fast recovery!
