Arrow Wrapping directions
I need new fletchings and arrow wraps seem to be a nice way to go. What all do I need to do it, what type of glue, wraps, do I need a jig for the fletchings? I am a newbie to this so I have no idea.

RE: Arrow Wrapping directions
I have been using the bohning pro jig for less than two years. It's great, but it's plastic and it wears. For 30 bucks it's not bad.
http://store.bohning.com/products/1741.xml?cat=1740 If I had known that I would come to love fletching arrows, I would have spent the money on a bitzenburger. I soon will. http://www.bitzenburger.com/ I also want to check out the Helix by Bohning as I only fletch 2 inch vanes any more. (blazers and max hunters) http://store.bohning.com/products/2999.xml?cat=1740 As for the wraps, I use www.onestringer.com but you can get wraps just about anywhere. Rick James on here has a great instructional video that he put together on installing wraps. I hope he sees this and posts it. I searched for it and couldn't find it. I think it was on another site that is down right now. If he doesn't, pm him, he is a great guy and will gladly send you the link. Glue -I have tried them all, fast set, quick set gel, epoxy. Save yourself some time and money. Just get Bohning's Fletch Tite Platinum. Strong and durable for a good price. Vanes- that's up to you check out a bunch and go with one. If you don't like them, then you can strip em and fletch up some others. That's the beauty of this. You also may want and arrow stripper some acetone and some fine grit sandpaper. Feel free to pm me with more questions. Good luck. I thoroughly enjoy fletching my own arrows.[8D];) |
RE: Arrow Wrapping directions
Buy a Bitzenburger! You won't be sorry:D
Glue I prefer Fletchtite Platinum. Vanes? I prefer feathers, but have also used QS ST hunters, and Blazers with decent results. Experiment around with a few arrows and find what you like best. Arrow wraps is something I don't use anymore, but onestringer is a good source. Dan |
RE: Arrow Wrapping directions
How exactly do you use the wraps? I have tried before and they were just terrible. I can't seem to get them straight or good at all. Any advice on how I should apply the wraps. Thanks. And if anyone has a used bitzenburger jig for sale lemme know because the near $70 for a new one is a bit much I think.

I understand not being able to afford some of the higher end products, but I'll let you in on asecret that works for me. I got the Bass Pro Shops visa card, the one that accumulates reward points with every purchase. I only use it for things that I normally would have paid cash for and I pay it off every month. You'll be amazed how quickly the points add up just by buying gas and groceries. In the last year and a halfI got my Bitz for free as well as a Garmin Venture and a Nikon 550 rangefinder. I just bought a Remington 870 turkey gun that I only needed an extra $100 in order to buy it. http://stores.shop.ebay.com/MUZZYHUNTER http://stores.ebay.com/Bullseye-Feathers p.s. When I do pay cash I buy from MeanV, best prices out there. |

bullseye feathers is a great source.
muzzyhunter was someone that I used to buy quite a bit from, but in my last few transactions it took forever and was sent the wrong stuff more than once. |
