New Bow Advice
 

I am looking to get a new bow in the next few months for the fall season. I have just recently gotten into bow hunting and have been shooting a Alpine bow my neighbor is letting me practice with. There seem to be so many choices and opinions out there it is hard to narrow down what would be best. I am in the you get what you pay for group so while I won't say money is no object, I definitely don't mind shelling out the money for something that will last me a long time. The 3 I been looking at are the Diamond Alpine, Bear The Truth 2, and Matthews S2. I guess I am after what everyone is. Something the draws smooth, shoots accurate and hits hard. Any advice is appreciated.

I just bought the Bear Truth 2 and I can tell with ease, it is worth the money. So fast and quiet, the bow shoots great. But before I bought it,I tested out many bows before I even considered it. The trick is you need to shoot and feel for them before you buy one. Some archery lanes are very cool about shooting before buyingbows. Do not go to Dicks, Walmart, etc. to try bows they do not have a range and usually don't know what they are talking about. Search around your area and ask professionals to try the ones you're interested in, most of the time they will help you even tune it. The Truth 2 is great for me, might not be for you, try them out until you find the bow that is right for you. Hope this helps.

This is what I would do....

1. Go get fitted at a shop (to get your draw length). Even if you have to pay a few dollars for this (not likely), it would be worth it.

2. Second thing I'd do is start perusing the classifieds section on Archery Talk. There are some STEALS out there, right now, on quality used bows.

3. You could probably get a 1 yr old $800 retail, top of the line bow....for $400-$500 (maybe less).

If you have questions about specific bows/deals.....these guys here can lead you in the right direction.

New martin Rytera is a sweet bow I just shot one today. Weights 3.5 lbs ata 32" this bow is fa.........st and
rolls over really easy. I was looking at the ross carnivore before shooting the rytera, not looking at the ross
no more . The rytera is 699.00 at the shop here this will be my next bow if I can swing it.

Save yourself some headache and buy from a quality proshop and least your first bow.

Shoot every bow you can your hands on in your price range and buy what feals the best to you. Don't listen to the clowns that say mathews, bowtech, hoyt, elite, etc etc etcis THE BEST BOW. There is no one best bow for everyone. If there was there would only be one bow company making one bow.

I shot them all and decided on the Bowtech Tribute way back in 06. Haven't ran across another bow that feals as go to me as the bowtech did. Mathews was actually one of the worst fealing in my hand but that just me. You may very well be just the opposite.
