Ground blind question

Hey guys and gals I got a question. I got a ground blind for this past christmas and I was wanting to know when I should put it out so that the deer get used to it. Only problem is I don't want it to get extremely faded from the sun while it sits and waits for opening day. Any help would be great. Thanks

RE: Ground blind question

We have 120 acres so I leave them out year round. The only thing I do a little different is, when I get a new one is I put it out up at the house for a month to leave it air out. Otherwise if I put them out right from the store it seems that the local black bear population getsnoseyfrom the new smell and likes to destory them. Since doing it this way the last 4yrs. I haven't had any more problems. Hope this helps. deerman69 :)

RE: Ground blind question

I never have tried to set one up for Whitetails, but supposedly they are more wary of blinds than Mulies, Antelope, Turkeys, etc.

I'd think a couple of weeks ahead of time would work and I'd brush it in good.

Good Luck!!

I would only put out when I hunt; or a few days before. Otherwise weather will tear it up or it will grow legs and walk off.

You are going to get a wide variety of repsonses on this.

Maybe some more info about your species, public/private land, likelihood of some stealing etc.

That or rodents will chew the chit out of it. Pack rats got to one of mine, and did a fine job of "airating" it.[:@]

Since it is new I would set it up in your yard for a few days then spray it down with with some scent-killer spray let it air out and then pack it away in an air-tight trash bag or scent-loc bag if possible until you use it for hunting, when you get it back out later on just spray it down with more scent-killer after you set it up and your good to go.I set my ground blind up about 4-5 weeks before Deer Season and brush it in with some cedar branches, leaves or tall grass from the surrounding area to look more natural.
