Dad graduated from Michigan State. My mom from Michigan. I gradiated from GVSU and my sister is the Captain of the The OSU's Women's hockey team! We do not speak much during football season.
If you are looking for hunting information: Ohio has the better trophy quality deer. Michigan would take win in shear numbers as southern Michigan is extremely overpopulated with deer and abundant public land to hunt.
Fishing & sites: I would have to go with Michigan due to the vast abundance of rivers, lakes and streams.
Sites: Michigan! from the sand dunes, light houses, UP, shear rock faces along Superior, etc... No question here.
Economy: OHIO! again, No Question. I love Michigan, but our State is in a world of #$%^. From taxes, jobs, available employment opportunities, night life, etc...
Sports: If you like football, the number of D1 & DII colleges that play ball gives the nod to Michigan. However, we also have the Lions! Therefore it is a wash. At least we have the Wings!

3.9 million acres of state forest in Michigan, 175,000 acres of state forest in Ohio. If you hunt public land, which sounds better to you?
Maps for 2,700 INLAND lakes and reservoirs on Michigan's DNR page. 180 for Ohio. Fish the lakes around Alpena, you'll love it. Small mouth bass off the east coast of the U.P. is as good as it gets anywhere.
11 National Championships and 43 Big Ten titles for Michigan. 7 National Championships and 33 Big Ten Titles for Ohio State. Nuff said Bucknuts! Or is it Browneyes? Always confuses me.
In the 1836 Ohio/Michigan war, Ohio got the Toledo strip, Michigan got the Upper Peninsula.
Hey, what do I know? I live in Virginia!
