I did it today. Ben came by before we headed out to a 3D shoot. I stepped out back and said to him as I nocked an arrow, Ben that 40 yard deer's 12 ring is the size of a skoal can right? He smiled and said, well actually that 12 ring is smaller.

First shot, 12 ring. He said you win the $500. ;) :D

Absolutely not.

Hmm, I just went back and looked at the original post and it stated 40 yds. Big difference between 40yds and 50yds for me.

Shoot, today I hit the 12 ring at 35 yards with a osage selfbow first shot with a cedar arrow. But it doesn't mean much unless the money is in your hand.

In other words, about anyone on this page can do it some days.

He didn't just do it somedays. I believe we talked about something like the next time we shoot together he would do this. Sure enough he came out the basement door after I had shot a few and the first thing out of his mouth was, "so that 12 ring is about the size of a can of chew right?" Money or no money, it's still the first shot of the day, cold, and it was dead nuts.

Well, I know last year I wrote Rob and asked about the Harrisburg shoot and thier trad rules. He told me there were alot of zeros at that indoor shoot. So right there tells me somedays, even the best is off.

Don't get me wrong. I am sure Rob could out shoot me on a 3d course with the bird flu, and one eye put out. 3d is not my thing, and never will be.

I've seen really good golfers' games go to hell when the stakes got outside their comfort level.....or the heat got too hot in the kitchen.

I've shot with some people who are good............and people who think they're a lot better than they are. I've missed a deer at 14 yds, from the ground. Things happen.

I'm with BC......I'd be the house money on these bets and come out WAY ahead.

Anybody who claims they can do this every time......should average "at least" 2 up for every target (scoring ASA 12 rings). In reality, they should be shooting for the 14 rings, (where applicable).

Like Brad Paisley......there's a lot of folks who are so much bigger, online.

At the times I am shooting 3-4 times a week, yes, I'll take the shot. Right now after a long winter, no. I really should shoot an indoor league for the winters, but too much work and kids stuff to take the time off.

Back in my Pro/Am day tournyswe would have a $10 "donation' to a pot-usually 10-15 pro/open shooters.
50 yds at a 3" spot till 1 man standing-miss your out. Never won the pot but was very near the top. Oh, recurves-not compounds. Compounds we did teams & sometimes your partner might not be the best to be paired with. I "have" won my share in my day.
Iwould do the $50 at 40 yds.
OnceI am ready to hunt in the fall-I have 2 Broadhead arrows at the back door-I do 1 at 25 yds & 1 at 40 about every other day on a 3" spot-just a hair bigger than the scole can though.I am money ahead for sure.

I think many, well some are missing the point.

It's not constant grouping. It's one shot, cold at 40 yards. I think some are over thinking this.

If you make it 45 yards I'll do it. I don't have a 40 yard pin only a 45 yarder. Then a 50 yard. But yeah. I'd prolly take a stab at the 50 not the 500

Ryan.

You know, basically it's like a hunting situation. You sit there for 3 hours and Mr. Freaky walks by giving you a standing broadside at 40yrds. Pressure is probably equal, so, if you take the shot, then you should shoot the skoal can. Sure the vitals are larger than that, but lots of things can happen.

i could do it at least 75-80% of the timeIF the wind was under 5 mph so yes i would probably take the bet

IF I am in the middle of a season or have been shooting for about 3 months, then yea I could do it, but in the offseason no way.
