Tough to answer that one for me as I shoot both, fixed and mechanical. The first arrow out of my quiver though is a Rocky Mountain Snyper so I did vote that way.

This past year I hopped on the Rage train. They work, but I am not a fanboy or anything. This year I may go to a G5 Striker. Who knows? Broadheads don't kill deer archers do.;)

I voted don't know or care. Why? Because in my early years of bowhunting the bows were much slower, releases were relatively new or almost unheard of and I got passthroughs almost every time at 60 lbs. or slightly more shooting fingers and using 2219 or 2216 aluminum logs for arrows. Personally I feel if I get caught up in the speed game I'll be worse off. Not to say I want the heaviest or a heavy arrow for bowhunting, because mine is probably mid-range but IMO the high end of speed is for 3D shooting. JMO.

3 Blade Magnus Snuffer- I shoot a recurve In the 190 fps range. Most will think I won't get the penetration needed because I shoot a slow bow, little do they know.;)

With my old 82nd, I actually got Muzzy's to fly dead on at 326 fps. With my new alpha max, Its around 280, and I'm sure they'll fly just fine.

I didnt vote b/c this year im going to be packing slick tricks and rages that worked very well for me last year. I will probably be shooting in the 280 range though b/c that is where im really comfortable at! Unless im shooting a speed bow, 280 is FAST imho. The deer dont stand a chance 90+ percent of the time when i zing an arrow at them at those speeds. Last year I had one bow at 270, and one at 310 and my best placedshot was made with the "slow bow" (bowtech general)lol! She didnt stand a chance;)

Well, I didn't vote in the pole because it only lets me make one choice and I have both trad and compound setups..... which shoot the same 540gr. arrow with 125 gr. b-52's.... trad-208-210fps..... compound.....308-310fps.

I voted for- 'I dont know/or care'
because... I dont. When I place my arrow where I need to place it on an animal, it expires. I shoot Rocky Mountain Snypers at, probably, around 280fps. I'd take a quiet bow over a fast one, ANY-DAY.. I think people put WAY to much emphasis on their hunting set-ups, speed, technical arrow junk, broadhead this, broadhead that. Find an arrow thatflies realatively straight, a broadhead that is pretty sharp and works decently with your arrow and go hunting. Thats what I do and I have no issues. People complicate archery hunting way too much. |

I'm experimenting with extreme FOC, heavier arrows. Zwickey Eskimos with 125grain steel inserts-a whopping 195fps :D

I was either shooting 560 fps or 260 fps with G5 montecs. I cannot remember which one I crono'd last year, but I think it was 560.
