RE: What bows in your time?
Over 48 years of shooting, I' ve had way too many to list by name. I' ll give numbers of each type and my all-time favorites.
@30 selfbows. 15 longbows (Saxon Mongoose). 25 recurves (Brackenbury Legend). 23 compounds. Hoyt' s ProVantage/ProForce series are still my favorite compounds (I never broke one of those risers even though they have a bad rep for that), with the Martin Firecat a close second. Current stash - 3 selfbows, 1 longbow, 4 recurves, 6 compounds and various kiddie bows for teaching youngsters to shoot. After reading Phil' s list, I remembered 2 Browning compounds. I' m sure I' ve forgotten a bunch more. :D |

RE: What bows in your time?
My first bow was a hand me down from my father. An old bear....the one with 2 wheels up by the riser that you adjusted for your draw weight.
Next I bought some kind of PSE. Can' t think of the name right off hand. Then somebody gave me an old 2 wheel compound to play with. Couldn' t even begin to remember the name of that bow. Then I upgraded to another used bow. Golden Eagle Carbine Extreme. Last but not least, the best of the group....... Mathews SQ2 |

RE: What bows in your time?
unknown make kids recurve
unknown make hardware store all-fiberglass recurve, supposed to be 50#(probably closer to 35) Bear Kodiak, 48# another 48# Kodiak Root Brushmaster recurve, 55# Jennings 4 wheeler Hoyt target recurve, 68" , 35# one of the first two Jennings Model " T" s to hit the area, 65# Pearson 2200 ( I think ) compound, 65#. Didn' t keep it long PSE early cam bow. Think they calleed it " Nova" , but it was long ago, not the current one. Shot it at 70# PSE Citation. Could only get 57# out of it cranked down. Used it mostly for targets. Oneida Aero-force. Bought this one new in ' 92. Usually shot it at 70# Damon Howatt TD recurve, 62" , 58# Martin Jaguar, 72# Browning Apparition, 70# Browning Nitro, 68#. Currently shooting this one, and have an identical one for a backup. Martin TD target recurve, 45#, for when I feel like playing with a stick occasionally. Owned a few others that I either tradedoff quickly or something, but these have been all the shooters I can remember, going back 40+ years (50 or so years, counting that kids' recurve) |
