Guess what... I got bored again. :D

Me and my dad went out to my grandparents house and raided my grandpa's steel pile. I already made some plans for a new camera arm, but I guess me and my dad had a better idea so we went with that.

I call it the Scorpion. (real scorpions haveeight legs... but you can sorta get the idea with the the four grippers (the legs)and then the long stinger (the camera arms) coming out the back).

The arms are 30" in length.
You guys better admire my awesome welding job. :D It was my second time welding with a stick welder. My dad will be sandblasting all of my camera arms for me and we're gonna camo them up with green and brown.

Heres some more pictures...

My next camera mount is called the Leech. (leeches attach to your skin like the camera arm attachs to the stand, plus its just one steel pipe representing the body of a leech)

The arm is 13" in length + 4 inches from the base.

The leech was made to attach to ladder stands only, but in the future I will be making a feature that allows you to attach the Leech to a hangon stand.

I hope you guys gota kick out of me naming my camera arms.

What are you using at the pivot points to prevent metal on metal contact/noise? I see what looks like a washer in there, but I was curious if it was like a teflon washer or what? Looks pretty good. I was going to ask if that was flux core, but I saw it was stick. I haven't done too much stick welding before.

Yes, I am just using washers. I had some plastic tube like washers to put between them but they were about an inch long and Im trying to find something small and less noticable.

I didn't enjoy the stick welding at all... For one, my mask strap broke so I had to hold the mask and weld with my hand while trying to keep the steel from moving. I had a hard time grounding it, I was welding on top of an anvil so I was using the grounding clamp thing to hold the steel to the anvil and also get it so I can get the welder to go. It took awhile to get it to work.

As you can see im not a professional welder and dont know much about it except using a stick welder and grounding it. My dad didn't explain to me much on what all of it meant. He just explained safety tips and the main concepts on welding techniques.

Like I said before, you'recreative, resourceful, and quite ingenious for such a young man! You're a model to your peers.;)Just for the record, it's scorpion, with a "C", and I believe they heve 8 legs.:D:D

Glad to see u r breaking up the winter dulldrum. Are u going to leave them out permanently? They look heavy to have to drag out all of the time.

Mossberg, you can create alot of things in welding.

Hardcorehunter, I plan on keeping them out the whole season. At the very end of each arm is a bolt that goes into the tilt head for the camera. I will just unscrew that everytime out.
