My bowhunting aerial property maps

I felt like doing some graphics today. It is my day off and I was a little bored. I put together some labeled aerial photo maps of where I bowhunt in Lycoming county, PA. I have a few problem spots where I'd like to put some stands. Places where I know there are deer, but no good way to infiltrate them! The deer here aren't real spooky, they are used to people being out stomping around to a degree and there are several permanant stands that produce a good percentage of the time. Take a look if you get the chance. let me know what you think.

Tribal: That's some pretty cool stuff, but I think that you have to much time on your hands :). What website did you use to get the maps?

I get the maps from a friend of mine who has some GPS software. I send him the longitude and latitude and he sends me the maps. I use Macromedia Fireworks to add the labels. I did them to print out and ad to my hunting journal, not to mention trying to avoid cleaning out my closet.

Nice Job. That is great that you have all that laid out. I think ariel and tope maps together are great scouting tools.

Nope, not in walking distance. 2 miles away. It's actually my in-laws property. Nobody hunts there during archery except for us.

I'm impressed! I'd love to do that with my own areas. Excellent job.

tribal, VERY nice work. I would give anything to have maps of my area like that. Problem is, I'm kind of map-illiterate, and I don't own a GPS. I have a hard time finding our exact pieces of property sometimes when I pan the map.

I have used thise for a bunch of GIS/GPS stuff, pretty cool you just gotta find the town you live in and you can zoom in.

Tribalscream, hey that's where I hunt. Of course I'm kidding but I hunt quite a bit not far from you...in fact within arrow distance on a calm day and I can tell you for certain, there are some dandy bucks running there. Shame of it is, the highway takes it's toll on alot of the deer you hunt. Great Map, I can actually use it myself...lol.

WOW, I cant imagine doing that much work for a map. I guess it would be worth it. You got me thinking about buying a big areial photo of my property.

Good Luck This Season: Buck Magnet
P.S. Only Chuck Adams can sit at home and see deer so get into the woods. =;^)

Wow Rob, within arrow distance? You're right about the bucks. You should see the one shed we found last March, dropped fresh. Only an 8 point but mass and height like you don't normally see around here. So uh,are you within arrow distance on the big map or close-up map?

As for the work on the map...I purchased a copy of Mossy Oak Game Plan software. I thought it would be fun to use on a friend's property of 135 acres. What a waste of money! The map that they sent me was sooo blurry, it was hard to read words that I know are there! So I thought I would do my own that's all. Let me tell you, they turned out a 100% nicer than the Mossy Oak topo maps!

Hey Tribal, what software was used? I have actually been thinking about getting aerial photo/mapping software and I can't find any that really looks good to me. I found one that is good, but it doesn't show aerial photos. Thanks.

Hey Big John,

Do they cost anything, and how much do they cost. I know exactly where you are talking about, heck I live about a mile from there. Thanks.

Can't remember the cost but I had to pick the photo area from a rack of photos and order it. I believe I also got a plat book of property owners there also.
