What sight are you using ?

I'm lookingto replace my G5optix ME sight for my bow... i want more pins and easier adjustment , but am confused with so much choice ,

how many pins ,
vertical or horizontal pins ,
expandable arm ,
light fitted ,
contained fibre optics ie wrapped or extended across the arm .

What is everybody else using and why ?

pictures would help too :)

Well since you are already familiar with the G5 ME....Just step up into the G5 Optics LE. http://www.outdoorsexperience.com/g5optixle.htmlThis is my second year (season) with this sight and to tell you the truth I love it...

Just my .02

Can't really help you man. I'm in the same boat. I've looked at them all a million times. Now I'm leaning toward a pendulum which is a whole nother' ball park. If you get some good info let me know. lol

Matey,

I think you have a seeing problem! Why are you asking us blokes a question like that when there's a hottie at Basspro that knows more about sights than any of us? I think she's turned your brain into mush...

Keli will take care of you!

Save your money for 2010....:)

Bigpapa,
I have used a Savage pendulum (inexpensive) for about 8-9 years now and I like it. It works great but you need to setup on ground that is fairly level for it to be right on accurate. I sighted mine in at 20 yds on the ground and is good out to 30 yds. in the tree. Used first on a PSE Thunderflite and now an Outback.

I would recomendany of the sights from Vital Bow Gear they are the brightest strongest sights on the market. I use the starbright which is a single pin with an adjustment on the back of it for all your settings.. It is the only sight I will ever use..Walt

RE: What sight are you using ?

I have to get a new sight with smaller pins. I am having trouble placing my 30 yard pin as it seems to take up the whole target when I look at it. I am going to look into new sights.

Hey Walt, how do you work your single pin sight? Do you just set it at 25 yards or something and adjust accordingly on your shots? Any info would be appreciate as I am a simple guy when it comes to bowhunting. I already took off my peep sight years ago and if I can eliminate a couple of my pins that would be great.

I use a Spot-Hogg Hogg-It with five .19 pins. It also has the Hogg-Wrap and a light. Gang adjustments are a breeze although individual pins are a bit tricky. This is one tough, tough site. Rock solid andbright pins. This ones a keeper!

I'm with txjourneyman...I rock spot-hogg. I have the wrapped Real Deal and absolutely love it. Definitely go with 0.19 pins though. Worth the price.

I use the Sword Accu-Site with .10 pins and coldn't be happier. It took some practice to get used to the tiny pins, but now that I've gotten accustomed to them, I'll never go back:D

Dave, For a multi-pin sight the Viper Predator Micro Tune is really a nice sight and won't break the bank.;)

Spot Hogg is also a good choice, but a few more $$

RE: What sight are you using ?

I have Sword, Cobra, and Tru-glo's on my various bows, and the SWORD is probably the best pin for me personally. I know though that when I start not seeing my pins as well, it's time to head back to the eye doctor again and have my prescription re-adjusted. Give a Sword Apex Hunter a shot and see what you think, for $60-70 it's one of the best sights you'll find, if you want to spend a little more, you can alway step up to one of their up echelon sights also. I also am a firm believer that a .019 sight pin is just about the perfect size for a combination hunting/target bow, if you are going strictly target, I'd probably consider the .010's. After shooting .019's the .029's are just TOOOO big.

RE: What sight are you using ?

Pin size is a personal choice IMHO.

I've seen guys who swear by .010, others swear by .029, and even .039

Personally for me the .019 are just about right.

I've got five Spot Hogg Hunter Hogg Its all set up exactly the same: large pin guard with top pin in green .29, followed by alternating green and yellow in .19. All sights have the Hogg Wrap on them, and are basically as indestructable as you can get. I could probably run over them with my car and still hunt with them.

I have a Viper Predator Micro Tune dipped in Max 4 on my 101st and I just ordered another one for the oncoming Air Raid. It's a solid sight and I have been pleased. I went out and bought a few others before taking some good advice and trying one of these out, I haven't found anything that compares.

I am using a Hogg It Hunter with wrap. Custom pins.. 4 pins, top two in .029 and bottom two in .019..
Them Hogg It Hunter ain't cheap are they , if i do go for the Real Deal i'll get the wrap too .

Hardcorehunter , i'm just not sold on the whole single pin thing . Ilike the thought of judging my shot , picking the pin and shootingand if the target does not go where you expect it .... your pin setting could be out ... if that makes sense .

demoIL 02-14-2009 05:35 PM

RE: What sight are you using ?

Not cheap, no.. Probably last sight you'll ever need though and very much adjustable to most peoples liking.. Plus customer service could not be matched..

Also look at new Armortech Hd.. And for a little less money the toxonics is pretty nice, very bright..

Anyway.. Let us know what you decide on!!!
