RE: Drop tine killed 07.12.2008.

Sorry about not including any text in the above thread. I'm just trying this for the first time after reading MGH PA tutorial on how to post a picture. I have never done this before, fortunately in the past my fellow hunting net members handled it for me.
That was a buck I shot in Ontario on a bitterly cold afternoon with loads of snow on the ground last December. He was actually a double drop tine, unfortunately his right side drop was broken off before I shot him. He does howeverhave a knob where that tine broke off from.
I was lucky I found him in one piece the following morning. I could not move him alone the afternoon before as my sled was in the city and the snow was much to deep to walk and drag him behind. He was a heavy deer that weighed 182 pounds when I took him to the butcher. This is without his head and rack, cape, legs and entrails. Was also an old man.
My first drop tine I've shotsince I started hunting in 1968.
Sure took a long, long time! Ha!;)

Keith,
That's a DANDY of a buck, great droptine and I love the DARK horns. Someday I'd like to shoot a nice DARK horned deer.

Gosh, you guys are all very gracious, thanks a whole bunch for the kind words. I'm sorry I numbered the date badly, he was shot (bow, 82nd Airborne with a 100G Grizz Trick)on December 07, 2008, but the pictures were taken the following morning.
Talk about cold, man it was MINUS 18 CELCIUS without factoring in the windchill...too cold. But sometimes that's when it happens. I had him on camera a couple of times and wanted him badly. I never killed a drop tine before and I begged the good God to send him to me for Christmas...and he did! Amen!
Yes he was old, an old white face, sagging chest and you could have counted every bone of his spine.
He's definitely going on the wall.
Thanks again guys.

Gorgeous buck. If you do some shed hunting in the area this spring, maybe you'll stumble across the busted drop tine. I'd definately give it a shot.

That's an awesome buck!! Congrat's. Man, he had to be pushing the 300 lb. mark live weight and that's after the rut. No wonder you couldn't move him. I happen to be a camera nut and happen to take a lot of trophy pic's- that is a great picture and really capture's the moment. I know the mount will be awesome but you need to make a nice 8X11 of that photo to post on the wall underneath your trophy.

I'm sorry I numbered to date incorrectly. Wish I could have edited the subject. I killed him on December 7th, 2008, sorry about that and again thanks so much for those kind words. 12.07.2008.;)
