Hear more on the ground

Last year I bought a wig wam ground blind. What seemed interesting to me is that I seemed to hear more things on the ground than in a treestand. I heard deer grunts and bleats on the ground and I never hear these sounds in a treestand. Let me know if you hear more in a stand or in a blind.:)

RE: Hear more on the ground

Cannot say I have heard more sounds on the ground than while in a tree-stand. However, when on the ground I am able to detect direction and distance of sound much better.

In my opinion, ground hunting requires more skill than tree stand hunting. i think that your senses are more activated because you must be so much more careful when ground hunting. To me there is nothing like hunting from the ground.

RE: Hear more on the ground

I have had pretty good success hunting from the ground. Last year I had a 3 point about 10 feet away from me, to small to shoot. He was walking straight to me and somehow saw me. I think he was not sure of what he saw, so he trotted past me. About fifteen minutes later I heard a grunt and I peaked out of my blind window and there he was staring rite at me. He was about 10 feet away, BUSTED!!

I have not hunted out of a man made ground blind, just natural ground blinds.
I here more when in my tree stand because I always face into the wind and the
wind carry' s the sound to me, I' m in a tree stand 95% of the time.
