I shoot for a shop, so i am always up there shooting in between school adn working and the g/f;) It is a huge part of my life and i do it b/c i enjoy it. I dont practice and shoot alot b/c i think i should, i just enjoy it. I can literally shoot hundreds of arrows in a day b/c i want to, and physically can! TFOX can vouch for me on that one. I am stillyoung, and its what i enjoy, so i do it...

Ive honestly shot outside in the rain before at night adn anyother time i feel like it. I will stand in my shop and put my target outside when its super cold even and just shoot.

Derek,
I know where you are coming from, but remember take care of your joints, and yes you can over do it.

After shooting over 40 years I can tell you it can happen.

You are young now, but one of 2 things will happen. You will get older or you will die. Hopefully not the later!;)All those years of shooting 90# and 80# bows wore on my elbows and shoulders. The injury I sustained to my right shoulder falling out of a tree stand approx 10 years ago did Not help either.

Just take care of yourself, maybe even get a lightweight bow to shoot for the most part of offseason. Indoors it doesn't matter:D

I hope you are able to enjoy Archery for 40 to 50 years at least. Don't be like a falling Star[8D]

Got it;) Thats why i shoot 55#'s. Trust me... im capable of anything, i have a naturally large build(not bragging, im just a big guy:D), so i take advantage of being able to shoot lower poundage for longer periods of time. I was shooting 3d at 70#'s a year ago, and since then, i have learned that i want to shoot for a long time, and to do that, i told myself i was never going to strain again with a bow just for the sake of a little speed/ke. So after selling that bow, i went to a 60# limb 101st airborne. i knew i could get very nice speed out of it w/out hardly any resistance. I started it shooting/practicing at 60#'s and found that with a lot of shooting, i would eventually get worn out, but my stamina dramatically increased going from 70#'s. So i consistently took off weight until i found a comfortable level that wouldnt leave me strained at all. I was shooting 53#'s with it. Now i have the AM which has a much smoother draw, so im up to 55 again.

I appreciate your advice, and take it very seriously. I think ive found a comfortable weight now though that has given me the ability to make better shots, for a longer period of time.

I love to shoot. Although I haven't in a little while because I do have a very hectic schedule and we have a good amount of snow on the ground. I will still begin shooting again here this weekend even though it's going to get cold again. My biggest issue is balancing time for ALL of my hobbies. I'm not one to pick up a hobby and just tinker, I always need to go all out, so I find myself trying to invest as much time as I can for each of them, and there's only so much time in the day. I'm unmarried with no kids, so it's only going to get worse.:D
That sounds exactly like me lol! Archery has just been the #1 for a while now. I do alot of stuff.

Derek, I like the way you think and that will serve you well in the long run.

With too many guys it's an ego thing to shoot 70#, when actually a good percentage are over bowed and complain about draw cycles letting down easy etc., etc.

I shot the fastest bow I have ever hunted with last year and it was the 82nd at only 61# 28" draw. My CX Aramids were shooting 306fps. Dec. 07 I shot a Mule Deer at 37 yards with my Guardian shooting a 500 grain arrow only 232fps. The arrow passed completely through and went about 18 yards before coming to rest.;)

I work full time, have three kids and am commander at the local VFW. I am busy, but I still try to shoot a couple times a week most of the year. I got involved in the online target contests hosted here last year and that helped me to push to get some time in.

You could enroll in an archery class if they have one.

I actually shoot in my basement which I feel pretty fortunate to be able to do. It is 17yards from one end to the other so it is pretty good distance. It is nice because I can shoot day or night.

The only problem is if I miss too badI hit the wall andruin the arrow. So I guess I have learned not to miss!
