Bambi

My son, who just turned 3, got Bambi on DVD for his birthday. He LOVES it! So, when I was going out last night to try to get a late season deer he told me "You can't shoot a deer daddy. Just coyotes." Oh man, what did I do???:D

Oh yeah, I am not worried about it. I just thought it was funny. I love the way a kid's brain works. They are constant entertainment.

I did have him "sighting in" his nerf bow on a big buck picture I cut out of a magazine. He thought that was awesome!

My daughter loved watching bambi and bambi II. Her only restriction was that I couldn't shoot a "baby", adeer with spots.

Unfortunatly Disney has cause alot of people to be anti hunting. And many people believe the wild animals are cute cuddly creatures that frollick in the woods....blah blah.....

Unfortunatly most of the people that see those movies have no tie to the reality of hunting (like your boy does). So they form groups like PETA, ALF, etc.....

Feed him some deer meat he'll get over it. :D

My son used to say, "dad, you can't kill bucks because then the babies will have no daddy!"...my older daughter would then chime in and say, "Jack, there are alot of buck dads, so YES daddy can kill a buck!"

Kind of the same response from my boy, Jake.
We sat together watching the DVD and when the part came up that Bambi had grown and had antlers, Jake says...
"Daddy Buck - Daddy Buck!" Then starts pointing @ to the loft where my Deer heads are.
My wife and I just laughed, as his "little" killer instinct took over!!!
Kids say the darnedest things.[&:]

Im sure I watched it, but to be honest...I don't remember the first thing about that movie or seeing it. We had our fair share of Disney though, so I am sure it made it's way into the VCR somehow.

Concur, it's about as antihunting as Disney gets.

My 4 year old daughter was given bambi by my non-hunting in-laws after i asked them not to do that. Needless to say that movie mysteriously disappeared and it's whereabouts are still unknown.

haha.. I was thinking the same thing. I went through it at that age, and at about 6 or 7years old I thought Bambi's dad's head on the wall, and the way bambi tasted, were waybetter than the movie...Like steve said,he will grow out of it, ESPECIALLY because he has a deer hunter as a dad.

RE: Bambi

I watched Bambi as a kid. My dad didn't hunt though so I don't know about my reactions at that age. Although growing up most kids watched cartoons on Saturday morning not me It was hunting show day on TNN. I don't know something in me just wanted to go hunting even though I had no ideas about it or experience about it even after watching Disney movies.

Jim,
Don't sweat it, I think a lot of kids go through that phase. My daughter went through it and when I told her that was fine, but I couldn't make JERKY anymore, she got over it real quick, and said "Well, it's okay if we need Jerky!!!" :D

Ask her where they are and she says, "Ice box !":D

I thought that movie was banned LOL.....but seriously, it's just another reminder of how Walt Disney has brainwashed us from the the time we were children until adulthood (bleeding heart liberals that believe Disney's Bambi nonsense).

I was raised by my grandparents. and yes i did proly watch bambi but he had been hunting for years and was a tournament bass fisherman so until i started school the only places i knew was on the water in a boat or in a tree stand or sitting on the ground waiting for a gobbler.

Then i get to school and noone understood how i could kill bambi.

Little off subject but I find it kind of ironic that the fox in that movie was named Todd and the meaning of the name Todd is fox, which just happens to be my name.[8D]

I had my kids watching discovery shows with wild animals eating other wild animals at a very early age,as a matter of fact,I NEVER hid that from them.It is nature and the way God intended so they never really gave me any grief about hunting, even after watching the anti hunting cartoons.

Hah,

my wife is afraid I will turn our daughters into hunters (which I will of course try). So she has already
made plans to screen Bambi I and II repeatedly at my house. :D

It's also cool when kids are in that stage where nothing phases them (though obviously not all kids).
She's 2 and a half and I showed her my dad's buck head which he had just skinned for European mount,
and she just wanted to touch it. [8D]

RE: Bambi

It sounds like some huge social experiment...we have a control group of bambi watchers with no outside influence of anti-hunting or pro hunting...a test group of pro-hunting bambi watchers...throw in the antagonist PETA supporting anti-hunting vegetable eating bambi watchers (*Note Vegi's are delicious but so is meat)...lets see what happens will the kids grow up despising hunting and loving bambi or loving bambi and loving how bambi tastes...should be interesting

Geronimo 01-27-2009 03:15 PM

RE: Bambi

Since Bambi is a cartoon character and the masses think killing a deer is killing Bambi then I propose that the masses may be "mostly" psychologically impaired. They need to get out more and embrace the natural world and save themselves from living a silly and ridiculous existence. LOL........

I never did watch bambi or any of those dumb cartoons, except jungle book, love that darn movie!

But since then, I think ive killed the whole fam damily, mamma, pappa, and the occational bambi!:D
