Problems with Fox! Lengthy read

About 5 days ago Istarted hearing a fox barking (2, sometimes 3 quick barks) all around the area I've been trying to kill a doe in. I have actually seen him doing this barking. He does this from the time I walk in before first light until the time I leave at dark! This bastard is NON STOP!![:@] He barks then there's a 2-3 minpause, then he barks again, and so on.He seems to work a huge circle around my hunting area. This guy really is racking up the miles!
I'd love to know if this could be the reason I'm not seeing deer in this area anymore? I was seeing them on every outing prior to this fox activity last week. I've learned that this is thebreeding season in my region. I've also seena pair of fox running through this exact same area. Could the deer be spooked by this barking? I'm about ready to give up on what was originally a great spot, at least for seeing deer.[&o]

Simple fix....kill the fox and see if deer sightings go back up.

Plus, killing a fox would be cool anyway!:D

I have a few fox in my area and often hear them barking at night. I have not noticed a decrease in deer sightings or any noticeable change in behavior. I would think that a deer would not be too spooked by a fox just because of their small size, but I don't know for sure.

Not legal on this state land I'm hunting, or else that would have been done long ago.;) Plus I'm running out of time. The season is over on Sat.[&o]:(

If the fox Is patrolling your area as much as you say It Is I could then see It possibly bothering your deer some. If It was just normal/average activity I wouldn't think your deer would be effected much at all. Did your deer possibly change up there feeding areas? Any recent snow?

I see foxes all the time. The last time out I had a pair barking almost non-stop all morning & running all over the place.
I killed a doe just a couple hours later.

I don't think the fox and no deer sightings have anything in common. While coyote hunting I will howl, challenge bark, yip with in 100 yards of deer and they don't even pick their heads up from feeding. I did call in a few coyotes, I believe there were 4 total, that came in yipping away and this cleared the deer out of the field, all hell broke loose!

It's the foxes mating season, that's why they areso frisky. I doubt they are scareing your deer

On one of the properties that i hunt it is a rarity not to see a fox. I see a large amount of fox on the other properties that i hunt as well, but dont see them all the time. In my experience, fax have little to no effect on deer at all. In fact, i have seen deer and fax traveling down the same trail within 10 yards of each other. I think the deer probably have just changed their food source and this is why the deer sightings went down.

Foxes don't bother deer from what I've observed. I've seen foxes walk right past deer and all the deer did was look. We have a slew of them where I hunt and see them everytime out and it didn't effect our success at all.

I use fox cover scent on my boots, especialy when I have to cross a shooting lane or trail on my way to my stand ,I hope fox scent in the area doesn't
spook them:eek:

Actually I have been alternating between two different stand sites in this area.;)The deer I saw yesterday walked right past the stand I was in for my morning hunt.
