wow filming is hard
well one evening last week my friend and i, socalledhunter_23 who occasionally makes an appearance on here, tried to film a doe kill from my buddy stand with my new admiral... had five come in with just enough cam light left but i was too picky with my shot and never got to let one go... they spooked and ran off, i guess movement from both of us was a little much.. it was definately exciting though, my heart was poundin even though it was just a doe.. i look forward to gettin one on film so i can put it on here..
anyone have any pointers? |

RE: wow filming is hard
Videoing can be very difficult. Things change when your trying for footage unless you don't care about the footage. To make it all right and make it worthy, it takes time and that means 2 guys in a tree doubling your scent, movement, mass etc plus shooting light lasts longer than camera light.
When I first got into it over 10 years ago it took us several seasons just to down a doe on film. Now, either behind or in front of, I/we've managed to down over a dozen deer and over a dozen gobblers in the spring. The hardest part is finding dedicated camera persons who are good enough. If you have a fellow hunter and take turns, it cuts your hunting time in half while your both in one tree or having only one shooter. We have a great camera/video/photography forum here. There are many great threads to get you started plus we have dozens of guys here doing it to offer up some great advice. |

I've done enough of it in the past 12 years or so to know it can be tough.
I rarely sacrifice my hunting time for video anymore. To me the video just was notthat important. With internet tips, and Great advice are readily accessible. If it turns out to be your thing, then Go for it, and Good Luck!! Dan |

It is very hard, but rewarding when you get something worth watching.

I have a Deer Ridge bow and gun mount... it allows me to mount my lil video camera on my bow
search for it and check it out |
RE: wow filming is hard
The best pointers I can give you is the hunter and cameraman should be in the same tree as it helps with letting each other know what is going on, and remember the cameraman is in charge of the whole thing except what animal you are going to take. You call the animal and then let the cameraman tell you when the shot is there. Good luck it gets very addicting. Walt

I disagree.. what past experiences do you have with them?
I have yet to take a live animal with them but have seen plenty of videos where one was taken with the setup |
RE: wow filming is hard
thanks for the input!!! i realized after the hunt that i shouldve paid way more attention to scent than i did, because there are two ppl to worry about now...
im 17 so it's really just a hobby, i spend all my free time outdoors so I thoughtit would be interesting to try... |
