Archery Snipering
How far is the longest shot that you made with a bow? I just wanna know???
My farthest was a 40 yard shot, I killed the doe but I dont think i will shoot a deer out that far again with a bow. Especially if its really early in the season.

Not everyone has the same the max yardages and just because one person shoots said distances, the next person shouldn't.
I've killed 3 bucks at 41, 41, 42 yards. All 3 were double lungs.
I've missed 1 at 41 yards, I held low, he didn't move and I sent a pefect arrow just under his heart/lungs. I"ll never aim low again.
Other than those, I've taken 2 at 34,35 yards,
All others have been under 25 yards.

I took my buck this year at 60 yards, I cant say that Im proud I hit him that far away. All I can say is that Im proud that I made a clean kill, even though I was uncertain. I made an oppurtunity out of what was given to me not only that but this buck was down wind of me with nothing but weeds and wheat stubble between us, In country unknown by bowhunters. Now my last two bucks on the other hand were a mere 15 and 22 yards.

I've taken a dozen or more animals at 35 to 52 yards, but my biggest buck to date was shot at 3 yards.
There are times that you shouldn't take a 20 yard shot, and there are times when a 40 or 50 yard shot is not right. You have to learn when the shot is makeable and when you should not shoot. That is a bigger challenge than actually having the accuracy to make the shot.
Maybe I was lucky, but I never wounded an animal on a long range shot. I prefer 40 yards or less

37yds. Other than that, its all been under 23. Not that i wont take a 40-50yd shot b/c i do practice for it and am prepared to do it, but i rarely ever would. The 37yd shot was on a nice buck that i took this year.
