Oh what a shame...

Last night on stand I saw a nice 130" buck that was way past his prime, hehas definantly gone down hill. He had2 broken legs, one was broken in 3 places, he could barely walk. I wish he would have closed the distance, I so wanted to put this former king out of his misery.

What stopped you from getting down and stalking him? No way in hell I couldn't have at least tried. With broken legs, how far could he have gotten?

I hear that cars kill more deer down there than hunters. Too bad you didn't get a chance to finish him.

He was on the other side of the river, which is not on my property, other wise I would have.

yeah that is a shame, i would have at least and gone and talked to the property owner and asked to pursue him, but i hate to see a deer die like that, (hit by a car)

That's the thing, they would never let me go over there, plus they were hunting it them selves.

Then I would have drove around to the other side of the river and told them other hunters about him, but that's just me, not you.

Agree, just to get it put down one way or another.

Yeah I should have, the old guy deserves it.

I've heard this also, but I have a hard time believing auto-deer crashes kill 220,000 deer a year in OHIO. In Nick's situation, I'd have went to the other landowner and told them about the deer at least that way someone put him out of his misery. I hate to see an animal suffer, whether it's the result of my actions or someone else's, I still hate to see an animal suffer.
